Strange that, might be because my car has done 19k miles. Either way its still a good price, and the voucher makes it even better! You can get voucher books from TJ Vickers website, think you just need to have got your car from there.

That sounds promising....

Got to get mine booked in there for it's first service next month..I have a £50 of voucher too...Looks like I might get change out of a ton, which would be nice! :)

My first service with them was £99! So you should definately get change from 100 notes.

If i remember when im there on monday i'll as what the 1 year service costs for you. :)

Got my 1st service due shortly

Phoned up dealer for a Grande Punto Sporting 1.4 T-Jet, 14k miles
(Perrys - Portsmouth)
£302!!!
For conveniance i would have accepted £200

Anyone know any decent places near Portsmouth or Petersfield??

That includes new spark plugs at £14 a pop a pollen filter i don't even want (@£30!) and an oil change and new filter!
i been on www.shop4parts.co.uk
specced up 4 litres of Selenia K 'Pure Energy' - 4 ltrs £33
4 new spark plugs @ £10 each - £40
and an oil filter for £10
Delivery @ £7.95
Total £92!

So they are charging me £184 labour! how long does a service take??

Sewards in Havant came in at £266

I'm tempted to get all the parts myself and take them to a collegues dads garage (VAT Registered) and just pay him labour.

Seriously, no SERIOUSLY FIAT need to look at this disparity of charging within its Dealer network it crazy.....:shakehead: I cant wait for my warranty to expire so I can do my own servicing.

Hang on hang on hang on!

Its like everything in modern life you do your research first!

Do you just accept any old mortgage/loan rate? Do you shop around for the cheapest insurance? When you go to buy something (tv,hi-fi,car etc) do you buy in first shop or look online to see whose selling it cheapest.......in other words you (the customer) should be aware as Fiat have no control over this in the same way as the examples above. End of the day any dealer charging these prices will soon see a lack of work its that simple.

The onus is on you to look/shop around, you do it for just about anything else so why not car servicing:confused:

I've only had my Stripe for 6 months and after reading this thread i'm dreading my first service and the crazy prices i might encounter.

why?

Did you take out a service plan/budget for servicing?

Its simple, if the price you are quoted is too high go elsewhere until you get a agreeable price.

I would suggest sticking to a Fiat dealer service for obvious reasons but thats your choice, others here have got good service prices so theres no reason why you shouldn't...stop worrying;)

Prices aren't set in stone, either. If there's a dealer that you trust but their price is too high, tell 'em. Ask 'em to match the best price you've found so far.

I didn't take out a service plan, tbh honest i didn't know it existed until i got home and flicked through the paperwork.

I've got 6 months until the service so i'll just put some money aside and (as you suggested) if the price is a little steep, i'll shop around.

Is that saying that if i have plan 1 for £539, i get 12 services over 2 years/36000 miles. Or am i being really thick?

Yep, you're being really thick :bang: :D
It's your first and second (they should have put a space between the 1 and 2) service over 2yrs (y)

Seems like a rip off considering people on this thread have been quoted less than £150 for their first service.
