I tried that for reverse but it didn’t work. What I did was shift into first then straight into reverse and 95% of the time seems to work. I forgot , the LCD Instrument display illuminates but doesn’t show anything rarely works

On the plus suide you can't fail an MOT because you've got the engine management light on, lol.

Ohh yeah I never thought the MIL actually might be on But don’t know it I have an OBDEleven for canbus read but it’s only for VW etc.. might be worth me getting that checked. I know the immobiliser light works it came on randomly before then went off. I can’t even see my mileage lol

, can you use a good battery and jump leads, or just put the one jump lead from the negative/earth terminal directly to the engine casting to act as a good earth.

Have you done this?

Probably one of two things here 1) battery has been run down without you knowing. 2) The earth rusted up again

So the tests above will let you know about each.

I’ve done the jump leads to bypass the earth strap but I haven’t tried jumping from
Another car. I might try that tomorrow to see if it starts. If not I’ll probably give the starter a couple of taps with a small hammer to see if I can get it to start

Make sure the current battery is out of the car and only the known good one is present and it'll fire up like the roaring lion it is lol

It probably will be lol. Mine only started playing up since we had ice and snow it’s been -4 here but some parts of uk it’s -16 according to news..

Would’ve been handy I’m thinking of getting the 1.9 diesel punto. There’s one for sale for £800 near me in really good condition don’t think if it’ll be a good buy

Go for it, the engines OK as far as I know. It'll have common problems, but not the same ones as you have now. So it can add a bit of variety to life lol

@AnthonyH i might go check if it’s still there and buy it lol mines 64hp from factory and think it’s lost 60% of that. its absolutely hilarious pulling off a slip road onto motorway trying to get to 70
