Washed and polished the Fizz today, prepped and masked the UNO Turbo alloys for a respray... I just can't seem to get my car to shine like Vernons!!
yup, especially since I've got another pair of used ones in the garage courtesy of MEP now. So if one of my shiny new ones fails again (and me and the car survive) I now have 4 used spares in the garage!!That's keen Andrew...

That'd be good, I meant to get in touch sooner but the last 6 months seem to have gone in a flash... See you at Brooklands.
Luke P.... Hmmmm.... Oh I remember him!!.. long time no hear. Will def catch up at brooklands.
that sounds familiar, although I'll raise you strut top mounts and tie rod bushes, although I didn't do CV joints (and annoyingly realised I'd forgotten the bump stops and shrouds when I had the struts apart!!) Spread mine out over about a year though.
Feels good doesn't it?
yup the rear springs are just wedged in. The shocks should stop the rear axle dropping far enough for the springs to escape. Out of interest how stiff are the Pi springs compared to standard? Getting fed up with my current springs as despite the drop they seem rather soft, loads of roll and the rears are bumping the bump stops even on gentle driving and unladen, and I notice the Pi springs are a rather good buy at the moment.Yeah, a lot of work but definately worth it. I havent fitted new tie rod bushes yet (i have a set), i'm trying to get the most use out of the old ones! Will prob need doing before winter though. Yeah i considered new top mounts, but in the end i reconditioned the old ones as the bearings were fine. With the PI springs, the bumps (huge craters) in the road are absorbed much better than standard and the spring rate is far more progressive. Gotta get the dampers done before July for the MOT.....are the rear springs just held in place with the weight of the car????? Haynes and porter are a little vague and i have had a look and cant see any "Fixings". Oh, also from a rust proofing point of view, i have stripped the interior (including headlining etc) and the 'gaps' for pouring in waxoil are excellent. I highly recommend it, if you wanted to put it all back in again it would only take a day to do the whole lot..(remove, fill with waxoil, take for drive up and down hills, put everything back again).![]()
Anyway this is what we were up to last week. Will try to upload some pics when i get a computer
