General What have you done for her/him recently?

Forgot to mention, decided to dig out all of the wheels I've collected over the years to sort out the good from the bad, scrap the damaged ones an sort the salvageable to have them sand blasted and powder coated at some point in the future. I was very surprised at how many I found, this is what happens when you've too many sheds etc!

:ROFLMAO:

Amazing how they collect! I don't feel like I have many around, but easily dug out about 10 Palio wheels for Vernon to sort for Panto. I gave Bob 4 standard steel wheels this week, so that must be me nearly out...... Except I know there is the Super's set somewhere, some random steels with tyres a bit too big for a Panda, a set of 14" Alfa alloys which I accidentally bought, oh and a set of the original Strada wheels, and of course the new set (5) of wheels for the Sisley, oh and the option Abarth alloys....... :bang: :bang:

Best to leave them alone as they don't look many scattered in different locations.....

Collected these yesterday. 6 rims (set of 5 and a spare incase of curb / blowout incidents ruining a rim) sand blasted and powder coated by a local firm :D

Just got to get some new rubber now ready to fit to Victoria for Italy next month.

And a rough idea of their looks before blasting and coating

So I asked my dad a while back if the roof rack in his garage was off his old panda, he couldn't remember.
Seems to be a home made affair from just 2 bars and angle alloy, the feet looked very much panda.

So i tried it on Ivor for fit and it fits. not sure if i like it or if its even legal it is wider than the roof but not wider than the wing mirrors.

I`ve given up on finding doors for my Panda, so I set about repairing them.. I cut all the sections of rust out the bottom edge (driver only had some in the bottom corner, passenger had about 18" missing) & used my Daimlers door to donate its lower edge.. Weirdly its almost the same profile.. Thing is, the Daimler metal is much thicker than the Panda metal, so it was a right balancing act to set the MIG to the right voltage to prevent it constantly blowing through the Fiat metal!

Anyway, nearly there now.. Its gonna be fun getting rid of the heat distortion with such little access to the inside.. I may have to use a thicker skim of filler than I usually do, even after spot-pulling the worst bits..

It`ll be thoroughly rustproofed (will swill both with de-rusting acid with the drains blocked, then acid etch them, then swill them with thinned oil based paint, again with the drains blocked for half an hour, then drains opened allowing the paint to ease out & create a natural water drain to the drain holes, then spray them with waxoyl.. Should last a minimum of 5 years)

Sill next.. If anyones got a spares Panda they can cut some sections of sill off of for me to use as repair sections, let me know please..

Oh, & I`m still after 750L seats, if anyones got any at a reasonable price (or even just covers).. ;)

So after Par advising that the weights in my electronic distributor were a bit past it on our trip to Italy earlier this year, causing the advance and retard not to work that effectively and result in poor running at times I decided to refurbish one.

Donor cost £15 delivered from eBay, new ignition module, wiring, signal pickup, vacuum advance and a complete strip down and blast out with cleaner and WD40 and Victoria has never run so well!!

The donor was sold as spares / repair but should be ok. It turned up with one snapped signal wire, ignition module was falling apart and internal wiring was falling apart also.

Here was the strip down

Replacement parts cost all of about £35-£45 from Italy via eBay and I'm rather pleased with the results, so much so I've decided to referb the one this has replaced so I can have it sitting as a spare on the shelf :)

Scrappy got his new vacuum advance fitted yesterday, getting ready for the London to Brighton run on a couple of weeks.

Today was a coolant system flush, new anti-freeze & timing check. Something will still cause a breakdown I'm sure...:p
