I think in person the badged grill works better.

at the moment because it hasn't really got any mod's it shouts a little unnecessarily.

once its lowered and on different alloys i'll put on a badgeless again..

Profit is a lose term really, it came on the car when i got it, sold it for £40, new grill cost £12 and the other £8 was on KFC and petrol to collect the grill

Well im sure ill see it in person again once your back from your holiday. Yeah it will look good lowered and with different alloys on it. Need to get it done soon! I might have some 50mm springs soon, found some cheap just need to find out cost for a courier because they are from london lol i aint driving that far for them :p

It will be done by November hopefully. Alloys are coming from my parents for my birthday. and springs/dampers will cost me around £280..

and yeah, when im back from Devon we'll meet up and do some exploring ;)

BTW PEOPLE

Can anyone notice anything different about my username?

Haha, you read my mind, I was going to suggest that the other day :D

It struck me the other day.. i love it, cant wait to get a 126 either :D

I think reading Mals "Van with a Differnce" thread has got too me, either that or im going mad

After reading a lot on Astra Owners Club and on Vauxhall Owners, i have decided that i will be changing the following for bigger/better/faster parts...

Throttle Body, Inlet Manifold, Exhaust manifold and system, Center Silencer Removed, CamShafts (Fast Road) & Remapped ECU..

Most if not all of these parts will be sourced from OTHER VAUXHALLS.. No new part will be purchased, it will be done on a budget...

the only parts that will be new are CamShafts & ECU for obvious reasons...

The engine that is in my car Z18XE is quite a powerful engine already, producing 130Bhp, but when mated together with parts from its bigger brother the Z22XE (The 2.2l 16v) it can create around 150bhp with out Cams & a remap

so you can see where this is going

small update...

carbon wrap been delivered on Tuesday...

Also off to source a suitable donor parts. Found a reasonable sized throttlebody with increase size.

Cam shafts from the 2.2l 16v fit into the 1.8l 16v, going to compare the difference and see if they will be suitable for the project

found parts in a scrapyard near York

Is that u-pull-it? If not where abouts is it? lol
Also plans sounds awesome (y)

Yeah thats u pull it. Its where i go for things sometimes, dont know of any other round these parts lol. Yeahh doncaster is a bit far for a few spares :p

Doncaster is 15miles down the road from me, York is 40... =P so not for me ;)

u-pull-it have loads of Vauxhall parts, thankfully the Z22 (the 2.2l) and Z18XE (my 1.8) are generic engines.. so any Zafira, Vectra/Signum & Astra with the 2.2 will do

Small update followed by a teaser...

have started to slightly smoke all my lights. (except fronts) and thanks to eklipze3k i have been given a small can of spray tint (y)

However.. managed to do one side repeater and the can ran out... When you said there was only a little left in the can you weren't joking :p

So need to pop down to ASK later and pick up another can to finish the job.. along with some other bits...

This is a teaser for a later project... Can anyone guess whats happening...:devil:

i've definitely been reading Mals Van thread and Brins Turbo thread...

I was posting on Astra Owners Club website regarding doing all these upgrades to find out none of them will work :bang: the 1.8 is the largest of the "small block" engines and the only the 1.4/1.6/1.8 parts are universal to the 1.8, the 2.0 & 2.2 are "big block" engines and have completely different parts...

so ive had a lot of people direct me to other threads and something regarding a "Eaton Mini M45 R53 SUPERCHARGER"...

When I see the words 'Eaton and Supercharger' in the same sentance it gives me wood.

Hope you cleaned under the indicators before you stick them back on ;)

Why are you chasing more power... Does it feel slugish?

You should see the images ive been emailed about fitting them to the Astras  its naughty...

Not yet, still need to do one indicator, so clipped them back in, but the whole car hasnt been cleaned since Devon, so thats todays job (y)

No, it feels tight and pretty refined, dispite a slight flat spot at 6,000rpm...

The basic cams/TB/exhaust is just your basic tuning, getting the most out of the block..

but the Eaton Supercharger is more of a pipe dream... it is unlikely to happen, not down to money for doing it, more down to insurance reasons...

Were getting technical over on AstraOwnersClub... Talking to a guy who has actually supercharged one of these engines..

his mate who's been replying on my thread has given me a list of parts. while the other bloke has supplied pictures and basic details...

Pretty much, to get the SuperCharger working i will only need;
Supercharger (Eaton M45 R53)
Belts & Pulleys,
Custom mounting
Induction and Feed Piping...
Standard ECU & Fueling will cope will low boost  and this will give me around a 20% power increase so will give me around 150BHP...

to get the magical 220BHP that this system can develop.. i will need...

a decent inlet manifold
a decent exhaust manifold
a set of cams
aftermarket ECU
possibly bigger injectors
then its starts getting a more expensive, but is worth it if your after bigger power.
then for silly power, you'll need:-
port and polished head
uprated pistons
uprated rods
polished and balanced crank

also, this is a video of a 1.8l ASTRA Mk4 like mine.. with a SC..
