Hi, really hoping someone can help me with this, I've read a lot accounts of similar problems but not this exact set of symptoms :
Some time ago, got lit airbag lights, triangle warning light, 'fuel cut-off' and 'stop start' warnings on my MY2010 500 1.2 Lounge. Car functioned as normal.
Eventually, this was joined by a flashing odometer. More by error than judgement, I think I fixed this by clearing stored codes and running a proxi-alignment with MES. Car was then fine with no warnings for a few months.
Then, warning triangle, 'fuel cut off', and 'stop start' warnings returned, no flashing odometer this time but there was a message about the boot being open when it was shut.
After reading about loads of different causes, I eventually admitted defeat and opened up the tailgate wiring for the third time in 15 years ! All wires replaced with new sections; warning about the boot and stop start have disappeared.
So now I've ruled that out, I still have the warning triangle and 'fuel cut off unavailable' (car still runs). No airbag lights after starting, no flashing odo. The ECU has a fault present U0422-81 'Communication with Body Computer (BCM/NBC), the advice for that code states that no dashboard warning light has been activated for the fault and I can't clear it.
Everything else appears to be OK on MES, I have a set of adaptors and the BCM shows no faults however I am unable to connect with the airbag module. I have disconnected it and nothing changes on the dash or in MES that I can see. I can't see any damaged components on the circuit board of the airbag module.
I bought a replacement airbag module to see what effect that might have but stupidly got a different model number. I am really hoping there's some other tests I can do with a multimeter before I have to get another module. I'm worried that the fault in the ECU will still be there as it doesn't cite the airbag system anyway. My priority is to get rid of the warning triangle so that I can MOT the car, I don't want to spend too much in case the MOT throws up anything else expensive at which point it might be time to cut any further losses after owning the car from new. I have already replaced the rear axle ready for this MOT (more time consuming than expensive), I'll need to put a new exhaust centre section on and the front control arms are getting ready and will likely be advisories if not fails.
Anything I can rule out to narrow the problem down ?
Thanks
