Multiscan shows fault B1001-18 key transponder current too low.

A fault is present in the indicated component connected to the Body Computer via the CAN line. The problem can be caused by the node to which the component is linked, a bad connection, wrong or missing system configuration, or a defect in the device itself.

Check the connections and wiring and the device itself, and ensure correct system configuration with the CAN Info function.

The fault is present now. Take appropriate action to fix this sensor fault. Dashboard warning light was not activated for this fault.

I’ve done a proxy align and everything is as it should be, the live data do show the ecu as being faulty but is this just because of the above error?

Could be, but also could be a problem with the immobilizer wiring:

And the E7010 doc they are referring to so you could check the wiring.

thats great thanks, I’ll check the antenna as suggested. Did try before but looks like the steering column cover has tamper proof screws, does anyone know what type of screws these are and what tool I need to remove them?

looks like the steering column cover has tamper proof screws

Frankly saying I doubt that. The tamperproof screws are used to hold the ignition barrel on the steering column. And I'm 100% sure, it's for security reasons. But the ones holding the cover shouldn't be tamperproof.

Looking at ePER it seems it's the part marked 10:

The part number is 14941924.

A google search returns this:

Moving the mouse over the image on the right zooms it and it looks like a spline or ribe type. There are similar, it's hard to tell on that photo.

Mine look like this

Hmmm, just looking again and it seems that the cover marked 1 might be the central console bottom cover, not the steering wheel one.

It's rather this diagram and screws:

Nr 5 looks like hex or torx:

nr 10 looks less like a normal screw, looks with a square head to me on this photo:

and the number 11 is definitely a classic Philips or Pozidrive head:

Managed to get the cover off. Using a circuit breaker finder appears to indicate a break with the wiring powering the ignition barrel/immobilizer.

It’s good bit of kit, the only issue is the cable appears to run behind the dash towards the airbag module? Does anyone have any wiring diagrams?

I think I need to replace the BCM, I’ve tried putting the part number into eBay (00519318210) but not seeing any replacements just ecu’s or BCM & ecu packages. Does anyone know if any BCM from the same year will work?

not sure of the details but i think it has to be a bit more specific than that IE- a post facelift bcm wont fit a pre facelift etc others may have more details!
