Good day all. My partner has a 500C and has been experiencing multitude of warning lights coming up on the dash, and staying lit.

The airbag light, fuel cut off disabled, hill drop inactive.

She went to a Fiat specialist garage and had them plug in diagnostic. The result - what they say, it’s all down to the Airbag control module, which will need replacing. And this will fix, and turn off all warning lights?

Is this the way forward? The mileage is also flashing.

I read somewhere that a proxy alignment can also fix the module issue??

Any help would be really appreciated.

A full version of MES diagnostic tool or the assistance of someone who has that, can do a "proxi alignment " and test for other error codes etc.
A wrong battery or earthing fault can also give similar issues.

The faulty airbag module doesn't have to be the cause of the actual mess. I'd even say it's rather the effect. They are very sensitive to voltage fluctuations.

The flashing mileage is the effect of one (or more) module(s) that is/are not visible or recognised by CAN. That might be the airbag module.

The proxi alignment will adapt the CAN to what is present / visible. So basically it will delete the missing module from the system. Which is not what you want.

First diagnose the problem, then repair.

There are at least two companies in the UK that claim to be able to repair the faulty airbag modules in most cases. Their names appear on the forum, so you'll find them once the module is confirmed faulty.

Attached the eLearn doc on the airbag in a post 2008 car. Might be helpful to check the wiring etc.

And the most important: before making any changes, make the backup of the original proxi config as described here:
