I don't really have much future plans apart from completing my to-do list, then tidy her up a bit!

All comments and ideas are welcomed! :) :D
It's a tough one when it comes to rings because there usually hardy things. Maybe oil starvation? ....... Or maybe the driver :D ;)

No oil level is spot on, and me.......well I ain't going to sit here and say I've never ragged the balls off that engine:rolleyes: But it's an 8v they usually solid engines it's baffled me and I'm sure it's baffled a lot of people, on the other hand if it was a 16v you wouldn't be baffled:D

But the issue I can see from removing spark plugs, 1 and 2 are coated in oil and have really low compression compare to 3 and 4, and 3 and 4 spark plugs dry as anything:confused:

Yeah the 8valver is a strong unit, it will be interesting to see.

Yeah as I thought strong engine, so less prone to engine failure, it's a right ministry this is:confused: Will post pictures for you and everyone else to look at, as I'm sure it'll surprise a lot of people and myself mainly, it's been strong since I brought the car, then bang one day it just fails, so my mind over-thinking, something must of broke during the travel to MITCAR but then again I felt no difference in engine power, compression, nothing if I did I would of turned back and would of given MITCAR a miss:bang:

All will be revealed tomorrow nonetheless, check this thread out tomorrow when you find some spare time, though I won't dwell on it after finding the damage as it's gonna get sorted anyway by myself, maybe yourself and bunch of other people that will be attending:)

Yes deffinatly bud, if you can keep hold of it because if I do come along (which I really would like :)) I would very much like to have a good look at it. I find stuff like that pretty interesting as an amateur engineer :D ........ Just out of interest when you get this new engine, will you be fitting anything to it? It ay be a good idea to fit a new clutch, timing belt, and possibly the crank seals? They take no time at all to fit with the engine out of the car? And you'll never need to worry about them again (y)

Yes mate ill keeo hold of it,and yeah like headgasket, water pump, possibly timing belt , crank seals, and +1 to new clutch:)

Good to see that your back on the road. Is that the new engine or did you manage to get the old one working?

Either way good job at saving another punto (Y)

New engine mate , old engine was to badly damaged, it would of needed a full bottom end rebuild. This engine is great much better than old one :)

And agree a punto saved from a scrappy

Remember my first time swapping engines

Going from a Misfiring Tappety Rattly one to a Smoother quieter one that was god on my ears!

Always a good feeling!!

Ziggy

This engine is so quiet you can barely hear it until you drive off but when it idles ah! you can actually hear yourself think! :p

My old engine, now this is a big subject imo - it was noisy never had a quiet idle, the exhaust use to go back and forth like a dog on heat! It never had much poke prior to its end of life, well saying that it was acting like this from early this year but I thought at the time it's a 1.2 not some 3 litre engine but that was never the case as it seems :(

Cause it always struggled on hills it was a nightmare, now onto this engine it has so much poke doesnt struggle on hills its like it wants to fly up the hill! Exhaust doesnt move no feedback off the engine in the cabin, its like a god send and I believe i got lucky with this engine! Which as a Punto owner I'm going to take so much care of this engine and keep it in this condition! (y)

110mph.... with the foot welded to the floor,

the punto clicks out at 96mph

old i've had over 100, but that was downhill and the wind on my side
The car really DIDNT like it

Ziggy

Yes 110mph and cant recall my foot being welded to the floor  it was a nice dry sunny day barely any wind either.

My car didnt mind it one bit.
Which, ok puntk clicks out at 96 as people say, but depends on how you look after the engine I suppose...
