General Water Trap

Fuel filler cap is going to be another area to go in the future, same as the old Ford Ka's. Water is always sitting in there.

Not the fact water sits there (in the recess) but all the road dirt/salt/cr@p sits on the fuel filler/breather pipe at the back and never dries out the metal flex's differently to the plastic, dirt erodes the paint water gets in and bingo nice fresh rust......

Treated my GP to a healthy coat of this in the exposed areas....

Well,

These have come out at £45 EACH:eek::eek::eek:

I'l take a look at getting some turned instead.

Wow thats a tad expensive. Would have paid that for a pair. Well done for your work so far, lets hope the alloy ones can bee more reasonably priced.

It's the cosmetics that bothers me.
Ok... forgive me for being stupid here....

But, if a mechanic wouldnt have any problem getting the nut off if rusted on... then why not just hammerite (paint) over the rusty thread and bolt in a nice silver colour (or any colour).

It would look nice, no covers needed, and in the event a mechanic wanted to remove the bolt, its only a bit of paint in the way.

JOB DONE, very little cost, and it would look nice
