Well, it's time to do it...

I've been looking around - almost wanted to go for a new one - But - Seems the 4X4 is no more? (So a couple of dealers have said), and then there's the delay in waiting. Don't like waiting. Should see me at Christmas time!

I've got a few to see, but, the question is, which one?

My choices are a 20 plate or one of two 15 plates. 2 are petrol, one is diesel.

There's a price difference to consider of course, but... what to do? :-(
Visiting a dealer tomorrow for one of the 15 plates. Already driven the 20 plate, LOVE IT!

Great advice right there. Although, one I've just seen hasn't moved for months... Theres a reason for it 😂 but yes, need to buy rather than try!

So,
Theres a few choices.
Just been to see a 15 plate cross petrol.
More dog hair in the car than on the dog. Leaking oil, cracked windscreen, dash falling apart, no service history, engine bay looks like it's been forded, rear seatbelts chewed to death, driver's seat leatherette nibbled at. On a plus, the radio works. £8000 willing to come down by 200 quid.

Another 15 plate diesel, not seen personally, but seems in good nick, £6750, but is on hold for someone else to look at first.

And a 20 plate petrol for £14k

Money isn't my deciding factor, getting the right vehicle at the right price is.

You'd really have to see it to believe it!
It's MoT history isn't the best, with unfixed advisories between MoT tells me the keeper just didn't care (Perhaps couldn't afford).

Ad reads:
****FANTASTIC 4X4**** Just in! This Stunning 2015 (65) Fiat Panda Cross Twinair Finished In White! • 77416 Miles!! • 0.9L Petrol • 4X4 • Eco mode • City steering mode • Heated seats • Fog lights • Multi functional steering wheel • Voice control • Aux • USB • Hill start assist • Climate control • AC ***

Should read:
****BELOW AVERAGE 4X4**** Sat here for ages! This uncared for 2015 (65) Fiat Panda Cross Twinair Finished in White (Where the paint still exists). 77416 Miles!! • 0.9L Petrol, oil dripping from sump• 4X4 • Eco mode • City steering mode • Heated seats which enhance the smell of dog • Fog lights • Multi functional steering wheel • Voice control • Aux • USB • Hill start assist • Climate control • AC ***

Really, I don't want to be cruel on the dealer, and I know they just need to make money, and of course you're not going to slate off the vehicle, but the price of this should be 3-4K for the actual condition it's been presented in. No effort whatsoever to make it sellable. The vehicle, in the pictures, looks more than acceptable. In reality, it really isn't. It's on a par with one of the worst I've seen at any dealer.

Here's a link to the vehicle. I'm just unimpressed. I did try and see if there was wriggle room, and there was not.

There was an ex.nhs panda in the Newport dealer a while back.. really high price considering the similar mileage

I love twinairs..
But wouldnt pay more than 5k for anything with that miles ( I appreciate prices have gone up @40%)

If Merthyr is local'ish you probably realise what a popular car they are 'in the hills'

Charlie . Abertillery

Yes, the prices are just crazy right now. Really are.

Covid seems to have brought a culture of sell whatever you can, regardless of state, as if it's gold.
It's post apocalyptic behaviour. Or maybe that's just Merthyr... lol

The 4x4 is still available, but temporary not at the moment, it will be updated to Euro-6.4 emission standard, with still a TwinAir Turbo engine.

Yes, it's quite open ended.
We've got such a long wait here for new cars also.... It's like waiting for Christmas day... awful! :-D
I think the 20 plate at £14000 is possibly an option.

And, bought a 2020 4X4 Cross. Collection next week.

Seriously hard vehicle to get hold of. As said - they don't sit there for long!

I've seen about 10 since my search began, from rotten rubbish (User abuse, and hound infestation) through to well over priced (One example, more second hand than it would have cost new!)

My next step is to add stuff to it. Expect questions and photos! Thanks for all your help folks!

Well, it's here. On a 20 plate with just 3k miles.
There's much to do.
Instant joblist:
Replace radio with something with a GPS and more friendly connectivity.
Replace cabin light with something with map lights.
Add heated seats.
Add spare wheel.
Add cruise control.
Tint rear windows.
Get rubber mats (easy bit)

This thing is quite nippy. Eco mode is the spawn of the devil.

Not so much that, just that the absolute misery of ECO mode does seem to diminish as the engine “loosens up”. I couldn’t be doing with it at all when my TA was new, it felt like dragging a skip. But at nearly 10K it’s become just about tolerable. On Vpower, at any rate.

My ex wife became like that after a few months. It just became bearable. I kinda got used to it all.
There's quite a difference with it on and off, that's for sure! (Eco mode that is)
