Terrorist attack today in London

I haven't seen the video, and I would not want to change places with the police, but 14 minutes, or more like 20 minutes according to the eyewitnesses at the scene does seem a hell of a long time for an AR team to get there in London. It could have been a multiple massacre in that time if these maniacs had been intent on killing members of the public rather than a soldier. I think it will also bring in to question security of the barracks, since it happened just outside it.

Because if you want to properly protect something, like a building for example it is a good idea to keep an eye on what is happening on the perimeter of it surely? What if somebody planned to drive a lorry bomb through the gates, or trying to scale the fences?

Then that would be picked up I'd have thought, this happened outside of the boundary / perimeter.

Just heard the soldier's wife on the radio. He was due home this weekend and they were going out on Saturday with their little boy.
Hearbreaking. I'm not ashamed to say I am in tears.

I can't help feeling these will be another 2 we'll end up looking after for the rest of their lives since they'll probably claim they can't be sent back on humanitarian grounds.

As for the nutjobs in the OP, it seems they've been on the radar for a number of years - so isn't it about time they rounded up everyone 'on the radar' and shipped them out of the country?
Is it not about time that this government stood up to these minorities & said "if you don't like it here, leave. Go somewhere you DO like". It's got to be cheaper in the long run for us to provide free air tickets than to keep on giving them benefits or mopping up after them?

I'm not sure where we would send them, as they were both born here.
One thing that I did read was that one of them was stopped trying to go abroad (I think to Somalia). Why not let him go there and then tip off the locals that he was coming, but don't let him back. I was speaking to a good friend of mine today in Turkey, who of course is muslim.
Do you know what he said to me? "You've got to stop these bloody muslims otherwise there will be more of them than you soon and they will take over".
And I repea. He is a muslim.

cant send back home grown terrorists tho (n)

True, however, if they love Islam soooo much, ship them out to some rough@rse Islamic country, and they all need to be shipped out there without a mention in the press or anything - else they'll all 'suddenly' convert away from Islam.

I find it worrying that we have all these top secret government organisations who seem to know about all these muppets & yet they simply stand by & wait until they do something bad before they will take action

That's exactly why we should make full use of existing legislation, including treason. Then we can put these people away for breaking the law legitimately, but before they escalate to murder and more lives are lost. It is not good enough to wait until an attrocity is committed.

It is worse to put loads of innocent people away and stifle freedom of speech and to protest, almost sounds like what they'd do in a fundamentalist country like Iran.
