Terrorist attack today in London

I don't agree or disagree with either of you, I just thought I'd post this interesting article based on my observations:

Ha, possible thread hi-jack. And probably not before time. My two "Famous Last Words are:

The man bitten by a particularly venomous spider native to Australia. "Help, help, I've been bitten by a Fu..........."

My favourite is the sublime inscription on Spike Milligan's headstone: "Told you I was ill!"

But the guy was English from Nigerian decent, probably couldn't even find Afghanistan on a map. If it had been an Afghan or of Afghan decent I could accept that argument.

True, it's not like when 9/11 happened and the uk invaded Afghanistan and Iraq because the us was attacked but nothing happened to the uk......

No, you're right. It's not like we're there to defend the Afghans is it?
Oh, wait... we are there as part of a NATO task force HELPING the Afghan Government(at their request), training their forces, helping police the country & generally keeping the population safe from the taliban loonies & their Al Qaeda pals.
I'm afraid the slight flaw in your argument is the "HELPING the Afghan Government(at their request)" bit.

The Soviet Union went into Afghanistan "at the request of the Afghan Government as well. But we all know this wasn't the case. It's easy to be invited into another country by the government if you helped to install it.

The USSR managed to overthrow his predecessor and install him as President which kind of makes it easier to justify your presence in a country. In fact it was not dissimilar to Vietnam when the South's government asked for US help. They were effectively propping up an unpopular administration.

So in my uneventful life there's been a reduction in racial, sexual and sexuality discrmination. There are no signs on hotel window saying "No dogs, no blacks". Women are closer in income parity than ever before, and hopefully it won't be long before that's achieved. No-one goes round talking about "Puffs, Queers, Shirt lifters and T**d burglers" anymore. The disabled are no longer referred to as a "Spaz" and those with Down's Syndrome as "Mongs". We don't call people "Nig-nogs or Wogs or Fuzzy-Wuzzies" anymore, and I for one am glad about that. Paraplegics used to be grateful for those hideous blue one person Invalid Carriages, or Spack Chariots as they were charmingly known. Now they are given a car, or a financial contribution towards one that allows them a degree of dignity without them being a victim of ridicule Those are all things that people in my lifetime have achieved and I'm damned if I want to see us put back 40 or 50 or even 100 years.

Right, rant over, think it's about time I went to bed so, without further adoo, I'll zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

i still see signs saying no dogs, lots of people are dogophobic
i thought Fuzzy-Wuzzy was a bear who had no hair

unfortunately you can still hear a lot of them words in conversations by people in asda if you listen in
I heard someone say they are going to the chinky the other day, first time i've heard that in ages.

oh an you can be straight but still be a bit Poofy ;)

Is it just me or does this seem like a random event and the guys involved were just a couple of nutters who started spouting Islamic crap when they noticed cameras were pointed at them?

Standing up to SO19 when you have knives is a bit "suicide by cop" as well. Were they trying to marter themselves or thick enough to take a knife to a gun fight?

Good work by SO19 not shooting to kill. I can't imagine the amount of self control that took.

"Islamic factions are at war with the West to try and achieve peace. A Jewish doctor has just won a Nobel Prize for chemistry making the total of Nobel's awarded to Jews one hundred and seventy seven".

IDK, I wasn't there when/if they asked for help. All I remember was the news about us going as part of a NATO task force to help the Afghan people with their 'pest control'. I suppose being a part of a multi-national task force is not like the USSR or US examples where it is just one greedy government looking for an angle.

Any shot is a shoot to kill, no such thing as anything other as any shot has a high death risk.

Can't say they're that random though, who knows random Islamic stuff to real out to cameras

I would say not, aiming for the limbs [as in a shot to the leg to disable] would surely be a different outcome compared to the torso [and certain areas there] and then aiming for the head. Also, doesn't it depend on the type of bullet being used

Legs (upper) have major arterys so will bleed to death fairly quickly if one of those are taken out, and arms are a tad difficult to get unless the person is completely still, so torso is normally aimed for, so I've been told. Don't want to miss and have a stray bullet hit something / someone else.

Must be correct then, 'Googles' said so.

some bod on Google said:
Operation Kratos, introduced after the September 11 attacks, involves police marksmen shooting the suicide bomb suspect in the body or head with no warning in order to stop them detonating an explosive device. Mr House said: "The Met does not have a shoot-to-kill policy. It may seem like semantics, but it is not. If you speak to anybody in central operations, they do not shoot to kill, they shoot to incapacitate people
