Technical Soot issue

Yo guys, new here.
I have a Fiat 500 1.2 petrol 2007. It has started to run rough and "jump a beat" while driving. I have noticed black smoke and a smell of petrol. OBD codes = 0. Checked the MAF....a bit wet, dryed it out. Took out the plugs and found them totally black sooted. Took out both O2 sensors with the same result. What the heck can it be....help?

That's some great news! Thanks for letting us know. This may be useful for some having the same issue. However camshaft sensors very rarely fail, so you need to become a Sherlock Holmes because it does not even give a code. Sometimes it is cheaper to do it yourself and start changing sensors than going to the garage.

I'd really like to know how to suspect camshaft sensor issue in the first place without changing too many other parts?
