Not sure I follow the logic there. Buy two service tools for the car - specifically an OBD reader that does just that, read codes and won't tell you any specific Fiat codes, vs a PC that has multiple uses, plus a versatile and updatable service tool. Still, you pays your money and all that :)

I always thought that OBD2 readers would give all codes? Or am I wrong in my assumption?
 
They'll give codes, but some of the manufacturer specific ones won't necessarily be identified, so you'll have to do a bit of trawling of the internet to find out what they are.

I'm not too bothered about that tbh, a guy I know on another forum was having issues with his Fester and I managed to find nearly all the codes :)
 
The generic code readers are naff only read basic fault codes not say abs or air bag. You. Can get Bluetooth obd plugs but not sure on their range the elm reader can be had from China cheap off the deal extreme website

Well I wasn't going to get one of the mega cheap ones tbh. Maybe spend £50-80 or so.
