I reckon it might be cheaper to just order the bits new from a ford dealer. The Ka has it as well. And Ford bits are cheap.
Yeah. Personally I think even if you cut holes in the rear beam you'd still have a job getting an ARB in there and then you've got the fact that the standard beam with the ARB is probably not as stiff the old one with holes in it.......

No, I meant buy a whole new Ford Ka axle and swap them around.

I was agreeing with you ;)

Was just saying that even if you did cut a hole in the rear beam that I think there would be complications other than just physically fitting it in there.

Ahhh. So, anyone know a decent ford part supplier?

Alternatively, there's a shiny new Ka in the back car park at work. I'll keep watch, you get the spanners out......

:D

I know where there's on in my old employers car park, I'd feel much better about stealing their rear axle tbh :p

Well, if anyone does manage a successful retro fit or Ka fit - please post it on here with details and photos please.
All someone really needs to do is have a look at EPER and see what parts differ between the c and the hatchback in terms of the rear suspension/axle.

27 replies so far and only one person has actually answered any of the questions raised by this thread...

Do ALL the new 500s now have the new Anti Roll Bar...

Yes they do.

when were they introduced...

From launch last Summer on the C, from start of production of the new model (that is, anything built from 1 December 2009 that has Start&Stop as standard) on hatchback.

A demo 500 with one would be nice

Might take a while to see one. Most (although not all) dealers will hold off registering this year's demonstrators until March, and then have to keep them a minimum 90 days, so you'll be looking at June.

Interesting to know as I'm waiting to test drive one!

That's because most of the fekking dealers are ****e, somebody asks them about the new suspension and they shrug their shoulders & say "I don't know anything about it"

Every one of them received the same letter from FGAUK (106_09 dated 25/11/2009) in which this was included...

FGAUK LTD said:
Starting with the production of the new MultiJet engine, all Fiat 500’s will be fitted with the stabiliser bar which was already introduced with the Fiat 500C. The anti-roll bar is a 21mm diameter solid steel bar, fixed to the crossmember using brackets made from a single piece of steel and part in rubber. It is connected to the dampers using tie-rods with ball joints at each end. This represents a quality intervention designed to improve the comfort and the handling of the car with a far more absorbent ride quality as you’ve experience in the Fiat 500Cs

...so they have no excuse for not knowing.

Had a bad experience recently Mr E? :p

Not really, just get annoyed that you walk into a dealer, looking to buy & you get ....

1) fed loads of rubbish about delivery dates

2) very little product knowledge.

The most helpfull dealer (for sales) I have been to recently was Wessex Cardiff, when looking to buy the Anarth (even had the cheque book on me), but then I think my judgement may have been clouded because I fancied having a go on the sales woman.:yum:

That's good to know (y)

I take it you didn't buy one anywhere else either?

Ahh, that would have been Danielle, so a few months ago now. She works for Coke now. Shame really, she was a great asset to the dealership (professionally I mean, not just as eye-candy! )

Not yet, it was too sanitised for my liking, not raw enough. I'm holding on for a cheap 2nd hand Essesse as a second car.

Was just before christmas, I thoiugh her hame was Hanna, ah well, you'd know better than me.

Sorry to dig this thread up.

I assumed as my car was sat around unregistered for a bit that it didn't have the suspension changes, esp as it doesnt have S/S.

But looking underneath it, it looks like the one further up the thread:

Here's mine:

Am I being daft? I haven't seen a pre-2010 model to compare. It was only when my colleague at work picked up their 2010 Lounge 1.2 without S/S this weekend I thought I'd compare, and they were the same...
