I finally found the flywheel locking hole
Its on the front of the gearbox ( i was looking underneath) photo attached
First pic looking down from above from passenger side and second one a closeup with the scope camera

Just need the locking kit to arrive today then put it all back together

Did the full job with engine in the car and a lot easier than i had expected

Total time so far 10 hours over 3 days

If i did it again i could possibly do it in half that

Im not so sure the servicing for the last 20k or so actually took place.

Sump plug well rusted

Sounds like your on top of it now! good quality oil changed regularly does wonders for a car!( and is much cheaper than big-ends and labour! 😱 ) hopefully your wee ride will appreciate it all and serve you well!(y)
 
Timing tool didnt arrive yesterday but should be later today

Am i right in thinking that the crank timing chain sprocket does not have any key but purely held on with the crank bolt force?

Have the best experience of this stuff,

Albeit on the pre-DPF era..

But that is probably an identical
set-up
