Seicento My 2.0 16v Seicento Project

Introduction

As most of you already know i was thinking of creating a 2.0 16v fiat seicento......looking at the conversion, its already causing a few issues and wont be straight forward... but im still giving it a go!!

I need to work out how to get the hub / drive shaft combo sorted.... brake callipers + lines need to be worked out, and then the most important, keeping the rear end on the floor when braking!! as i didnt realise how light these cars are with nothing in the rear...

Ive got a T reg seicento sporting with 12months MOT and 6 Months tax, so this is a good base to get started on.

So far the car has been gutted, and im in the process of cutting out the wiring i wont be needing.

Im off on a 300 mile round trip tomorrow to pick the engine up, and then the battle of fitting it in will begin!
Please do me a favour and make sure you keep an eye on the temperature lol, you have a very busy boot, radiators and sub, maybe a couple of sensors and read outs on your dash it would be a shame if there was any damage through excess heat or fire.

Thats all taken care of with the aid of my digital dash.... I have two radiators anyhow so the heat shouldnt be too bad to be honest.

i never did find out what the cental heating was for

For it to be central heating, surely i need a boiler? lol...

If you have read the beginning of the thread, i didnt think there was room for a rad at the front, so all of the cooling was going to take place in the rear.

As things went along i managed to get something knocked up at the front to cool the water a tad, but ive kept one of the two rads in the rear as an extra emergency cooling system...

Im not sure if its needed until i get my guages all wired in, but to be honest its an awsome heater if i just turn the one fan on so im keeping it how it is lol :D

I've lost interest in this now you've stopped making it faster and started adding unnecessary creature comforts :p

So the awkward questions what have you spent on it so far and how many man hours off skilled and unskilled labour has it taken?

Only reason I ask is that in a few months time every 17 year old will dream that this is what he wants to go to his car and after the turbo guys and 1.4 guys have put them off with the costs of doing a conversion this will be the next one on this list :bang:

Had a thought (my mum would be proud):

Would using wheels and tyres with an overall smaller circumference to what the vaux gearbox and digi clocks are used to cause the speedo to underread (says you're doing 30 when you're doing 36 for example), due to the different gearing?

Nope other way round. It'd over read so you'd be doing 25 when it says 30. But thats pretty exaggerated, you could work out the difference with some calcs and some pie. :yum:

I'll second the call for a totting up of costs and labour (skilled and unskilled), mostly for the reasons said but also because it'd be good to compare it to the other go faster tricks and my project.

Don't worry about my mental health, it's long gone :D

I'd imagine it's quite a sizable amount of work and money to do but a ball park figure might be good. We can all see from the diary that its a couple of months work even if you go at it at a phenomenal pace and have some fairly handy skills to boot.

I'd like to know mostly because I'm doing about 20+hrs a week on my project car at the minute and its still looking like a car with a hole in it and will probably look like that for another 4 months. So much for 'just drop in a bike engine'...

Dear god I wish i could find the words for how amazing this project is as 'amazing' just doesn't seen to cut it, you must be an absolute lunatic for even considering such a feat :D

1 of the only reasons i joined the site was to post how epic this is, been watching it since the beginning and can not believe the commitment you've shown, un f**king real. :slayer:

Haha, well i stopped counting how much i was spending at the £2k mark.. Probs at a wild guess im near to £2500 now...

As for hours then 7 weeks doing around 10 hours a day, with the odd day off here and there....

All the work was done ourselves (me and my mate), and the only things done professionally was the pipework (done for free by a friend) and the driveshafts, which i paid for.

how you finishing the dash mate? paint of flock? go on mate, go get flocked!!!

Possibly smoothing out and spraying in a custom paint mix... Pearlescent Nihtfire Red with metallic flakework...

Although i will be checking out birmingham tomorrow to see if i can get hold of any material flock prior to smoothing the lot out fully.... (loads less work to flock lol)
