Seicento My 2.0 16v Seicento Project

Introduction

As most of you already know i was thinking of creating a 2.0 16v fiat seicento......looking at the conversion, its already causing a few issues and wont be straight forward... but im still giving it a go!!

I need to work out how to get the hub / drive shaft combo sorted.... brake callipers + lines need to be worked out, and then the most important, keeping the rear end on the floor when braking!! as i didnt realise how light these cars are with nothing in the rear...

Ive got a T reg seicento sporting with 12months MOT and 6 Months tax, so this is a good base to get started on.

So far the car has been gutted, and im in the process of cutting out the wiring i wont be needing.

Im off on a 300 mile round trip tomorrow to pick the engine up, and then the battle of fitting it in will begin!
they are where the top corners of the original centre console would have been, with controls for heaters etc on. Vents would normally be above that where theres now a big square hole. Is that hole for the new digi dash mate?

Yea the dark part in the middle top of the dash is the digi dash (fitted in the pics).

It was the only realistic place i could put it due to the size and shape.

Took the rattle can to my side skirts today...

Will give them a good few days to cure before i fit them....

Happy with the outcome as they were kind of a rush job....

The new early XE throttle plate has turned up today, along with the TPS sensor i should be using with my ECU (should stop the problems i was having and now give me full throttle)...

I wish i could say the same thing about my material as ive been waiting for that to arrive since the weekend...

Anyways ive spent an hour or so cleaning out the double butterfly, springs etc, with it all re-greased it moves nice and freely which is good lol...

Will get round to fitting over the course of the weekend...

How big is the throttle butterfly on that?

Changed the air filter on my (standard) Cinq Sporting a couple of weeks back and the butterfly look somewhere between the size of 1 and £2 coins :p

I thought the central dials was on purpose, not through necessity, looks nice where they are 'stacked' with the LCD and stereo and the change in viewing angle isn't a problem with them being digital :)

Lol, ive done the £1 coin test, and got the old steel rule out to show the size....

The £1 coin happily sits down the smaller of the two butterflies lol.

Just a bit bigger then :D

The angle, I meant when you look over it would be different than if you were looking right at it; if you're being driven somewhere and you look over at an analogue speedo it can look like the other person is going just slightly too fast because of the change of angle and the needle being slightly above the dial.

I imagine you get an (upside down) HUD at night with those not having a binnacle over them :)

Haha i didnt think of that... hmm hope not!

Yea i realised what you meant and edited my post so i didnt look stupid lol... looks like you caught me out :p

65MM!

How come there are two butterlfies though...

To be honest im not 100% sure.. the smaller one opens first to a point, and then the second one starts to open... Full throttle and they are both open.

I thought it was down to the idle, as in ajustment for the idle speed, but this is done via an allen key bolt on the ICV...

I'm not 100% but I think its for economical reasons - at lower speeds the smaller butterfly will only let in just enough air for a small amount of fuel whereas even if the bigger one was only open a tiny crack it'd let in more air requiring more fuel - just a guess tbh but seems like a reasonable explanation.

Bloody carpet / material hasn't turned up today.. i was promised that it would be here via a next day currior... this however hasn't happened, and its getting to the point of being a joke, after all i paid for it last saturday, and been expecting it to arrive tuesday..

I am getting an early start tomorrow and getting myself over to birmingham market (just outside the ball ring) and seeing if i can get some seude or leather material...

Ive managed to blag an electric sewing machine for a few days so im going to start having a go with it tonight and see what i can and cant do...

Il keep you all posted :)

The technical term for that is Parallax Error.
