Seicento My 2.0 16v Seicento Project

Introduction

As most of you already know i was thinking of creating a 2.0 16v fiat seicento......looking at the conversion, its already causing a few issues and wont be straight forward... but im still giving it a go!!

I need to work out how to get the hub / drive shaft combo sorted.... brake callipers + lines need to be worked out, and then the most important, keeping the rear end on the floor when braking!! as i didnt realise how light these cars are with nothing in the rear...

Ive got a T reg seicento sporting with 12months MOT and 6 Months tax, so this is a good base to get started on.

So far the car has been gutted, and im in the process of cutting out the wiring i wont be needing.

Im off on a 300 mile round trip tomorrow to pick the engine up, and then the battle of fitting it in will begin!
Cheers lol...

So today ive had enough lol... Made the exhaust system, and welded up most of the inside where the previous gear shifter used to be... I then went about welding the gear selector mechanism in.... after about 3 hours it was all in great, and then the panel must have warped a tad under the heat.... so now the selecter is angled slightly, and i cant get the damn gears... for the 4th time lol...

Going to cut it all out and start again tomorrow, see if i can make it as a bolt in part, rather than welding it back in place.... it needs to be perfect as it will be getting stick on a daily basis lol... :D

Today is looking promising so far...

If we get the gear linkages sorted today il host a few more piccys...

Sounds like a silly question but can you photograph your fog light wiring please, want to see where it joins up to and where goes to.

I have fogs, and control pannel switch but they aren't wired.

Thanks

A picture would be useless as my loom is in a massive ball of wire at the moment as all the wiring was moved around when i was welding.

If you follow the fog light wires from the fogs, the wire goes to a connector, then up the very front of the wheel arch, into the engine bay, through the bulkhead on the passenger side, and then behind the dash to the car loom/switch and fusebox.

So far as usual its all gone wrong again lol...

The gear linkage wasnt the best, and i was getting fed up of having holes all over the place, so we looked for an alternative...

A friend popped over and pointed out another place the pivot could be placed for a better feel on the gears.

The pivot has been moved into the engine bay, and attatched to the rear engine mount... It needs removing tomorrow and welding as its only tacked.... so far it looks to be better, as internally it should now line up perfectly, meaning less joints in the link to go wrong...

Heres a pic (the only pic of it i have)...

Gear pivot mk3 lol....

sent you a pm there

cracking project

Just replied to it, cheers..

Anyways here is the point i got to yesterday... i cut all the previous linkage out, and replaced the metal, making the interior a lot better looking... although with the linkage in place i think the dash will need modding and the cd player will possibly need a new home... Although i have pretty cool ideas for the audio on this car anyhow, so its something il be playing around with...

Just have to overcome a small problem with regards to play in the gear link pivot in the engine bay... as we are getting gears, but with a slight play in the link, giving it a rough gear change feel... should hopefully have this modded today and running fine...

Well the drive shafts are on order.... and will be ready to collect on thursday :D

If everything pans out well, and the weather stays nice then i should be on the road by mid next week.... (although will have a lot of cosmetic stuff to sort out)

Wheres the updates? this is the closest to a very different project being finished in a long time.

Haha sorry been too busy with her to get on here with any updates... Its all been boring bits like extending wires, chopping and changing bits on the loom, and bolting things together...

Tomorrow the plumber will be over to finish off the pipework hopefully, and il have the drive shafts to hand.. so il get a few pics up and a brief of whats been done... :D

There has been a delay on the shafts, apparently they had to be sent away, and there is a que on the machine that they were being made on, so i have had to wait my turn... apparently they should arrive tomorrow (monday) but im not holding out!!

Had a weekend away from the car (well kind of... been collecting bits for it over the weekend)...

I now have the part of the loom i was desperate for, and also a tasty set of abarth side skirts and spoiler to paint and fit :D Which should go quite well with the black abarth wheels i refurbed..

The car currently stands like this.... (might not be using the buckets as seen in the pics, not sure if their my thing)
