Punto (Mk2/2b) Munkul's thread

Introduction

well, i put a deposit down on a 52 plate Mk2 today, very happy!

its in very nice condition, standard, no signs of crash damage or owt, the only bits were a slight ding in the passenger side rear arch, and slightly kerbed alloys :)

well i think it will be an ongoing project, as long as its reliable enough!

the interior pic is quite rubbish, but the seats still look a little dirty  apparently a common problem....

i get to pick it up on saturday the 5th jan, it getting MOTed by dealer, etc

i cant wait

Im not going to go into details, but i will say this: the front brakes have been the biggest headache that i have ever had to deal with on a car. It should have been a straightforward swap like it has been for others in the past but this particular set of brakes turned into absolute crap whereever i touched it. The pads were shot. The seals were small. The discs were corroded and needed skimmed. They wouldnt bleed for love nor money, and its taken me well over 2 months to get the problems sorted one after another.

Next: more fun stuff than brakes, i hope!

I got my stock wheels back today, powdercoated in anthracite. I also fitted my Red Dot XE pads (£10 off ebay whoohoo)
The wheels got a quick shot of Natty's wax (for all the good its gonna do) and CG trim gel.

Im chuffed to bits with the way they look. Top quality job by Thursby Blast Shop :)

Im not so chuffed with the handling though. Its effectively destroyed any feel and sidewall flex is terrible, and even though overall grip seems to be the same, there is nothing confidence-inspiring about the way it corners now. I didnt think that it would have made such a big difference, considering that they are the same type on the front as before (T1-rs all round now)

No wonder people dont rate the handling on puntos, if this is what its supposed to be like :( think im gonna look for anther cheap set of 16" because the handling was one of the best things about my car :(
