Punto (Mk2/2b) Munkul's thread

Introduction

well, i put a deposit down on a 52 plate Mk2 today, very happy!

its in very nice condition, standard, no signs of crash damage or owt, the only bits were a slight ding in the passenger side rear arch, and slightly kerbed alloys :)

well i think it will be an ongoing project, as long as its reliable enough!

the interior pic is quite rubbish, but the seats still look a little dirty  apparently a common problem....

i get to pick it up on saturday the 5th jan, it getting MOTed by dealer, etc

i cant wait
Just out of curiosity, how much have you spent so far on this car? And how much dya reckon you will spend? lol

The 1.4 16v T-Jet injectors are a direct swap for those blue ones, and flow more than enough. Would have been better to use them i'd have thought, or can you not do that witht he greddy?

I picked up a set for £30 with the fule rail (though you can use your current one). They are often left spare after the essesse conversion.

the greddy system doesnt modify pulse-width signals, it just controls its own set of injectors. The standard set can flow for 120bhp so i think two sets will do me :p

as said before, sorry i got impatient and ordered a new pump

whats the crack with gaskets?

the HG i took off is ultra thin, its just like two thin bits of metal pressed together - 0.7mm thick estimated. The new standard one i got is 2mm at least.

The gasket that goes between the head and the cam carrier is also thin (0.5mm estimated rubber coated steel) and the new one that came in the pack is thick - 2mm and made of slightly squashier stuff.

what gives? apparently there is two different CRs for these engines, 106:1 and 10.2:1 - is the gasket the only that changes Fiat's rating?

Also, if the new cam carrier gasket doesnt squash down as far as the old one, doesnt that mean in effect i wont get as much lift from the cams?

very good progress mate, i just looked through your whole thread lol.

so basically, if you didnt hit that dear, you would have probably sold your punny and got a new car... haha.

Cheers :p I keep thinking this too. Even after the deer incident, it nearly got sold - i was close enough to buying an e36 328i sport last christmas that i almost had the money out of the bank when i got the call that it had already been sold. It was the second incident that made me decide to do daft things with it

While the head is off, the cam holder got three coats of Crackle Black, thought id put the aluminium plugs back in and see what it looked like.

i'm liking that!(y) i bought some black engine paint for mine a while back but haven't got round to doing it (the paint is probably solid now lol) you've just gave me an incentive to get it done!!! looks really cool especially with the silver contrasting parts. did you paint with a spray or brush???
