Hello, when I first started the car, the oil light stayed on for 2-6 seconds, and the dashboard showed a "Low oil pressure" warning. The engine sounded off while the light was on, so I knew there was no oil pressure. Once the warning went away, the engine noise returned to normal.

I replaced the sleeve bearings and removed the rubber seal between the oil pump and the pickup tube

replacing it with a machined part like this upgrade: https://jtd-performance.com/en/product/oil-pump-seal-modification-jtd-tbi/

This helped a lot and the oil pressure builds up much faster, but the low oil pressure light still comes up for second at most.

Do you think anything else, besides a bad oil pump, could be causing that low oil pressure light to come on? I don't think its normal. The car is nearing 200k kms, but I don't think that the mileage is an issue as the engine is in decent condition. I’m using the recommended Fiat oil Selenia with the correct SAE 5W30. Filter is new and the oil pan and pickup tube are clean.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Unlikely but I had a 2010 1.6 MJ Doblo that leaked engine oil into the cooling system from the oil cooler of oil filter housing.:)

Hi. I'm having the very same issue. (posted thread last night) The way you describe it is exactly the same as my 1.6 (152k) I've started to work through a list of things and the seal between the pickup tube/pump is on that list so it's interesting that it seems to have helped in your case.
Does the 'insufficient oil pressure' dash warning still come on or is it just the oil light itself now?
I've changed the oil and filter so far with no difference. For me there's definitely a change in engine sound before/after the light goes off which makes me think there's something not right on start up. The mechanic I use though that was a coincidence but I'm not sure.

Something else my mechanic mentioned is some kind of non return valve in the oil filter/housing. Sometimes they end up not sitting quite right which lets the oil drain from the filter when sat over night or for long periods and it take a few seconds for it to fill on start up which can cause a low oil pressure warning. Not sure how true that is but it kind of makes sense to me.
My next job was going to be the oil pressure switch/switches but reading your post I wonder if I should just get the seal done anyway. Another member suggested the upgrade part that you fitted so seems worth changing it anyway given the miles it's done and the fact that there's upgrade kits out there suggests that it's a common failure point.
I'll post any other info as I find it.
