Hello,

I got a 2007 1.2 Dynamic Panda about last week, 80k miles on the clock, no rust on the body and didn't throw any codes during the pre sale inspection. Something I didn't realize during the test drive is that the gas pedal isn't smooth at all and it feels like it's going through different levels instead of being a single smooth swing. Obviously this makes city driving rather frustrating because it's pretty easy to stall the car and it also tends to jerk when I want to speed up because, again, twitchy pedal.

I went and got it fully serviced a few days ago and I told them about the throttle, one of the mechanics took it out on a test drive with me and he said it's normal and just how these Pandas drive. I'm almost sure he was wrong, though.

I was also unable to find any similar issues online for this Panda so I'm posting this here. Is it a clogged throttle body/frayed wire/just needs some WD40 or is this really how these cars drive?

Are we saying

It's mechanically not smooth
Or the engine does not respond smoothly

As in the pedal isn't smooth even with the engine switched off

Mechanically, yeah. Just something up with the throttle system. Even with the engine off the gas pedal is weird like that.

All our Pandas, including our present one which is a 2010 1.2 dynamic eco, have had a throttle cable and I had exactly this problem on one of the earlier ones. It was the throttle cable. A new one completely sorted it out. Being an old codger I've worked on many cars with throttle cables and the problem with a "sticky" pedal is nearly always, but not exclusively, down to the cable.
