Hi guys,1st poster here.
21stone bloke, and I love driving my Mk2 Panda
Normally people submit posts desperate for answers. I am here to share a solution. My clutch pedal got rock hard in the up position. Rare, I know, but happened to me. My 1.1 08 Panda is rock solid, but I had this nagging issue when in hot traffic, gears became hard to change. As we are in UK, and I only do suburban trips, did not happen very often.
Looked around the forums, and suspected clutch slave, for no other reason, other than cheapest repair first. Come MOT time, when failed on handbrake, took Panda to have rear shoes adjusted, said to my guy:" chuck a slave cylinder" as quick repair. He cursed at me, as pipe was sized to slave cylinder assembly. Anyway, replacement was done and I drove for about 60 miles over 4 days.
On the forth day, I felt clutch pedal a bit odd, and snatching upwards. Next day, in the morning, clutch pedal was rock hard and would not press down. Checked for leaks and if pipe was still connected to slave cylinder, any leaks around master cylinder, by bulkhead or footwell, all bone dry; fluid level all ok. Thought " clutch gone" but didn't make sense. Called my guy, and he checked operation of new slave cylinder, again mentioning the fact that I supplied crap part. Anyway, this guy is good. He produced a long bar and can of WD40. He found the lever, outside gearbox, that connects to the clutch fork was seized. A bit of levering, lub, and pumping of pedal, resolved my issue. Done 100 miles since, now waiting for hot weather to check.
Good as gold.
FYI only 48k, here to last.
