Technical fiat doblo 1.3 sx multijet problem with white smoke and no power

80 Mph is quite high revs for a 1.3, especially if it is a 5 speed, I have a 2014 Vauxhall Combo1.3MJ which is basically the same as yours, in 5th gear 50-60 mph is where it seems happiest, The 1.6 van I have which has the six speed gearbox is much faster, but doesn't have the low speed grunt.
What is described isn't actually a compression test, more a quick "blow by" test, taking the oil filler cap off when idling will show if excessive piston/cylinder bore wear by the amount of fumes blowing out of the filler, it is a guide but needs to be based on experience as for instance a worn petrol engine blow by is much less than a good diesel engine. For accurate compression test on a diesel as suitable high pressure gauge would need to be fitted to the heater or injector plug holes with an adaptor. Then if readings are low I then use a leak test involving another piece of equipment that puts compressed air into the engine on each individual cylinder and can show where the pressure loss is, piston/valves/head gasket etc.
At the beginning when you mentioned taking the intake pipe off, I suggested, "When you say it is leaking oil from the intake pipe, do you mean the side where the air cleaner is or the side nearest to the inter cooler?" This would have told you if it was a turbo fault or an engine fault where oil is forced out of the breather before the turbo and then sucked in through the "good" turbo.
Re the white smoke, I have had a 1.6 MJ that had a faulty turbo where the bearings had gone and you could feel excessive movement, this allowed the oil lubrication to go past the worn bearing and burn in the engine. Even with the new turbo it took a long time to get all the oil out of the intercooler and pipework so that it would stop smoking.
hey again, been busy last few days just got home, looking at the turbo i took of the side thats not conected to the exhaust, the side thats connected to the airbox, and after what you said the turbo may be ok if oil is being sucked up to the turbo , i will investigate tomorrow as when i said i think the tubo is leaking because i saw the oil in it from that side so i may take off the intercooler too and see if oil got into it, also want to check the pcv valve like cybor mentioned, as its not a sensored part the scan wouldnt have shown any errors with it so be good to see

so got the turbo off today and the exhaust side has seized, exhaust is full off oil and intercooler too, brand new turbo too so its something else causing the problem, and after what ive spent i refuse to spend any more on the van, even if i did it would not be feasible so im just gonna get another van and save all the hassle, such a shame it only lasted 350 miles with the new parts, so dissapointing, thanks for the help guys, i will try to do something at some point and keep you guys updated but its time to just give up. appreciate the help guys

ok guys my adhd just wont let me leave the van alone especcially when i look out of the living room window and it just screams "FIX ME" ive decided im going to take the engine out and investigate the cause of the problem, im losing sleep over it litterally, so my mechanic also my neighbour is gonna get a hoist and engine stand and were gonna get her up and kickin again, and give everything a good check over ect so we dont have a repeat of the breakdown hopefully, only worried about pulling injectors and glow plugs, as we tried pulling glow plugs when we did the other stuff but they were getting tight on the way out so a good soak and they should come out and how much of a pain can the injectors be to get out? wanna do that so i can do a compression test before taking everything apart just as a process of elimination of problems, will be changing piston rings and bearings ect, and giving everything a good clean, any tips? i will get the camera out and make a video from start to finish and pictures ect so it will hopefully help others but im actually excited about it instead of being sad about what happened, so you turn that sad face into a happy face bugsymike, replacement engine is too expensive and it was running great for the few hundred mile until i broke down so here goes nothing,

My daughters get stressed about car problems, but I say "Don't worry , its only a bloody car we will fix it" and I do.
If you take your time and you have your neighbour to advise you it should be fine. Just do it all with "Love and kindness", brute force and ignorance is what will cost you money!!!
I have used extractor to pull injectors out on 1.3 multijets in the past as the seal at bottom leaks so the tubes they slide down in, all carbon up , that is the normal problem.
A good think to do a compression test before going overboard on a full strip down.
You will need a timing chain kit if rebuilding engine as that is their weak point in my eyes.
Personally I prefer the 1.6 engine, the 1.3 always seems over worked for that size body.

sound advice mate, ive ordered a compression tester that will fit the glow plug socket and should fit the injector socket too, thats an amazon and will be here today, i need to change the glow plugs anyway and did try before putting it all back together after the new turbo , timing chain ect before breaking down, but the glow plugs got tight on the way out so i tightened them back up and left it, ive been soaking them in wd40 for the last 3 days as i cant run the engine to make it easier to remove them, well dont want to run it at the moment unless i have to, and im gonna take my time getting the plugs out and do a compression test before going overboard, also need to take off the dpf and intercooler and get the oil out of them and the exhaust, sending back the new broken turbo also hopefully get a refund and im gonna buy a cartridge for the turbo it had on when i bought it to get it running again, fingers crossed

tried taking out the glow pugs, 4 is loose but wont come out spins and wiggles but wount pull out, broke the connector off by pulling but housing and 9mm nut still intact, 3 was tight but same as 4 without losing the connector stalk, 2 is real tight so soaked in more wd40 and try tomorrow, 1 seems loose but not fully retracted yet, can see threads on all of them almost out just no2 is gonna snap i know it,so cant do a compresion test till i get them all out?

ok just got the glow plugs all out, what an adventure, only took 3 days lol, but their all out and my compression tester is great but no m8x1 adapter so will have to order another, the sqeaking on the way out was the shaft clogged with carbon, as i said they were spinning so they were out just needed some long nosed mould grips and kept twisting and pulling, threads look ok but gonna get a tap in the holes to see if the threads are worn, and order the correct kit or an adapter for the one i bought, like you said bugsymike love and kindness, was slow and patient and it pays when doing something like this, the stalk snapped on no 1 but it just needed twisting and pulling like the others, feel like ive won a battle but well worth it and enjoyable, glad none snaped and needed extracting, do i need to ream the hole before putting new ones in, seen info about it but i like to do things properly, so i can order the reamer with the new compression tester

also got a remanufactured original turbo today ready to go on once i find the problem, need to clean the threads for the glowplugs but cant find the correct reamer, i know the threads are m8x1 but google gives me random crap anyone used one that could give me a part number or anything, thanks in advance
