Might be a faulty ignition switch. Or the old chestnut - a bad earth.

In terms of diagnostics, the £15 Chinesium OBD readers will only give you a generic fault, but it does at least give you an idea of what area of the engine is being troubled.

It's maybe worth investing in one of these OBD adapters:

and (if you're on Android) getting this app which does read individual modules (ie not just generic OBD stuff)

It's a cheap way of diagnosing faults, and you get more accurate information about the faults. Of course, once you dabble in diagnostics you'll then find yourself getting MultiECUScan and delving deep into your Doblo's innards.

Car Scanner will show both OBD faults, and the relevant modules (in my case engine) together with the full Fiat powertrain code (the two numbers after the Pxxxx)

For around 35-40 EUR I bought my bluetooth STN1170 which is dedicated to FIATs and Fords and can connect to every module in the FIATs, including body, airbag, ABS, so allows me to do everything, including key programming, pneumatic suspension settings, proxy alignment etc.

Uh-oh. Stop tempting me with more gadgets.... I already bit and bought the Otofix D1 Lite. You can never have too many gadgets.

I assume that works with MultiECUScan okay, and presumably whatever apps you want ?

Yes. With MultiEcuScan on the windows laptop, with Torque and CarScanner on my android phone :)

And does not need any colour adapters ;)
