Note- member Dextron reported on another post that his mechanic couldn't undo the subframe bolts. So he undid and moved the DPF sideways allowing removing and replacing the cooler.
.
I've asked him if he can find more info from his mechanic.
.
Could be a game changer perhaps?

Manual or Comfortmatic?

@deejays , I don't know. It shouldn't make any difference, the gubbins for comfortmatic are on the top and top rear of the gearbox, well away from the cooler / DPF area.

I'm just wanting to get the 'know how'

Removing the LP EGR cooler

There is a post on this Forum by another victim of 'blocked cooler syndrome'
.
He has just had his garage mechanic change the cooler for a new one.
.
His mechanic was unable to undo at least one of the subframe bolts so he was unable to remove the subframe.
.
Instead he unbolted the DPF and moved it sideways to allow access to the cooler for changing anew.
.
How he achieved it we don't know, I have asked for more details, alas his mechanic won't say........

@theoneandonly pls read this for info.
.
Let's hope another victim might be able to test this methodology.

They have now (checked the DPF per the service news) and surprise, surprise, there's lots of soot 🤷🏼‍♀️ so they're on the hunt for a new DPF (not easily found).
Having had no promised update I called with FP yesterday - still waiting for parts (they can't use ohher than their own supply chains). They are now religiously following the Service News 10.023.19 which is why they're changing the HPEGR again. When I asked if that would be covered by warranty on the previous replacement there was much sucking of teeth.

When I asked why the directions in the middle section below hadn't been completed last time I was told the EGR had been replaced, the fault went away so all was fine, there was no need to carry on with the 'AND THEN PERFORM the following procedures, in THE SPECIFIED ORDER'. My reading of it says ALL the actions in that section should be performed. Am I wrong?
