On Monday my Car will go to the Mechanic.
I let them change the DPF, Injectors and the LPEGR Cooler. They will also clean the HPEGR.
Is the anything else they should change?
And, as my Ducato is on Fiat Software V28, is it better to contact a Fiat Dealer and make the Update to V31 after this whole process?
Costs on Monday will be around between 10k Euro and 11k Euro....a terrible amount of money
Wow, that is a scary amount of money. I hope your vehicle isn't worth less than that? Personally, I would not be putting so much money into a really old van, it would be scrapped unless someone else was paying!

A good choice. A terrible amount of money, yES.
I think it would be prudent wise sensible a no brainer to change to V32 as suggested by the service notes.

OK, thx a lot for the Information.
Then after the repair i will contact Fiat and as If they can make the Update to V32. Wonder If they do this because my car never was at Fiat😜

P041A-15 fault code

we have a new way to show the blocked cooler.

Hi guys I’m back again as some of you may know me and the work carried out in this truck because of the p0401 code, new had new turbo, dpf, lp egr and hp egr,, then two weeks later head gasket went so done that and truck has been fine since that is until today I noticed higher revs on tick over scan slapped scanner on and guest what code is showing again yes that awful p0401 code 😡.

The only thing we didn’t change was the cooler we cleaned it instead but I think it might be blocked again,,, so my question is had anyone removed that stupid metal net that blocks ? I’m thinking of removing it what do u think ?

Also ill attach some pic of live data

Have you looked with Multiecuscan? You can view the LP EGR opening and the temperature probe reading. If the LP is regulating only from fully closed to fully open, the probe temperature keeping low, say 30- 70 degrees then you will know the cooler is blocked. I suspect you would also get P0401 if the air filter was blocked/ MAP defective. If you run MES with the standard template from @theoneandonly he will readily confirm if it's the cooler at fault.

The only thing i can see is that the HPegr valve works as expected. The two important pids for live data is the LPEGR actual position and LPEGR cooler temperature a csv file of 10 mins data with a warm engine will confirm problem. If it is a blocked cooler.

So, I got my van back today. The DPF and LP EGR cooler were replaced, the HP and LP EGR were inspected, everything looked good.

He couldn't check the injectors because he doesn't have the right tools.

The software will be updated to version 32 next week by a specialist control unit company. Fiat is refusing to do the update.

I drove 90 kilometers today, the car drives well and there are no error messages stored in MES.

I'll still make another recording and post it here to be absolutely sure that the matter is now taken care of.

Without the injectors, the whole job cost me just under 4000 euros for the parts and 1200 euros for the mechanic.

You can provide the location of the company that performed the updates and what it looked like.
The Company is in Germany, 89542 Herbrechtingen.
They will took out the ECU of the Car and connect it with their Computersystem. Then they will Install the Update.
They also repair ECU' s , so i think every Company that can repair ECU' s can install Updates.
I even found the Original ECU Software in the Web If you search for it. On a lot of Sites for Chiptuning you can also purchase and download the unmodified Original ECU Softwarefiles.

I don’t have multiecuscan unfortunately but I’ve got another scanner better than the one I’m using in pic, battery had died on it earlier but I’ll get some more readings thanks guys

Hi guys back again 😡 so went to start truck earlier to some live data and it won’t start, there’s no noise from starter motor so replaced that just in case and still nothing, im only getting about 4volts at starter motor whilst trying to crank,,,I’m getting these codes come up now, so my question is does the starter motor link into the glow plug relay at all ? The relay under passenger side wheel arch just in case anyone wondered where it was lol

If not where would u be looking next ? I can feel clicking on relays under bonnet when trying to crank so I’m a bit lost lol the 4 codes come up after I unplugged relay, the two codes was on first diagnostics

Hi, I'm afraid that I'm now also a member of this prestigious P0401 club. I've read the entire thread and now understand the issue (at least to a reasonable depth). While I'm obviously disappointed to learn about the significance of the issue, I'm also astonished by the amount of work invested into this and the published guides. Thank you so much for all this! There is no way I would have ever figured this out on my own.

My car is a 2017, 130MJ, manual. I bought it with 192k km and added another 24k km. I've had no limp mode yet, but the engine light (with P0401 only) activates every now and then. 7k km ago, I had both EGRs exchanged. Unfortunately, the LPEGR cooler was not replaced. I've had no issues for those 7k km, but now the light reappeared and I finally encountered this thread. I have not yet taken any measurements with multiecuscan. Once I do, I'll post them here as an additional data point.

Right now I'm not really keen on the 5k++ EUR bill that goes with handling this the proper way, so I'm considering my options, which seem to be either software EGRs delete (as a semi-permanent solution) or buying a second LPEGR cooler and changing and cleaning them periodically. If I remember correctly someone wrote that the cleaned cooler only lasted for 15k km (or maybe miles?). May I ask @Fredastaire how many miles/kilometers did you put on it before you had to do the recleaning? If there happens to be someone who had done an EGR SW delete and has driven a lot since, I would be grateful for any report, since I didn't find many such reports in this thread.

Huge thanks again to everyone involved!

It's a year since I had work done at Fiat Professional to replace 4 injectors, HPEGR and LPEGR cooler. I also had a service with them in Aug 24 before heading for France. On 6th October I had the engine throwing the P0401-61 error which would sometimes activate the EML. I had several instances of this error and sometimes also P0402-61 which put the engine into proper limp mode (like 1st gear).

Fortunately I had learned how to use MES and with the help of @theoneandonly I was able to get home, clearing codes en route.

With the motorhome in FP they were going down the route of assuming the HPEGR was stuck closed, even after I showed them the graph from MES that proved this isn't the case. The computer says.

I'm presently waiting for an estimate for work right thro to replacing the cracked DPF, if indeed that's what it turns out to be.

@theoneandonly - I've done the mean/max/min of LPEGR temperature as indicated here and my results for the last run are
Mean - 71.7
Max - 102
Min - 36

That doesn't look good to me!

I attach that latest.csv

Anyone have details for Fiat's CEO?
