Hello.

Can someone tell me what battery I need for my Panda Pop 1.2 Petrol please as I go on a battery site and there are different variants, with different watts etc.

I don't need a start/stop battery as far as I know.

Reg is: YO15 WPD.

And what brand you recommend? Looking at Bosch, Varta, Exide or Yuasa.

Thank you

Model
Panda Pop 1.2
Year
2015
Mileage
59000
Sorry and earth strap length as Halfords sell various sizes in braided ones. Is that all I need for a new battery?

You need a battery with O12 case size. I've had a Yuasa YBX 3012 for nearly six years now, good battery. Less expensive than Bosch or Varta.

Would this one be ok? Seen many batteries but have different amps and voltage.

Know what length earth battery cable is needed?

Plus this is my current battery, and it's not even a start stop car..

Looks like someone installed a start/stop battery which is not needed! But that Yuasa 5012 in the previous post will do nicely. Look for 50+ amps is ideal.

Thanks.

I have seen a Varta battery with 530cca, the Yuasa has 500cca not sure if much difference.

Know what size earth battery strap is needed as Halfords do various sizes for them

Don't buy it at Halford's, find a local welding hardware shop, ask for a good quality copper welding wire 25 sq mm cut to length, make them clamp copper connectors, add some heatshrink on the connector to cable connection and it will last longer than the car. This one is for my non-FIAT daily, it cost like 8 EUR in total. 42 cm.

Ah, one more. I've read somewhere lately that Yuasa, too, moved the production from Japan to China and the quality is no longer the same.

Newer Boschs and Vartas also need to be checked for production plant. Some models are produced in China, too. Or Vietnam?

I've bought 2 years ago a Yuasa for my motorbike and it is still Japanese ;)

Checking what batteries are the most reliable around 3 years ago I've found the Ukrainians Amega (5 and 7) and Viking (Silver and Gold) were the best. They were still using the classic construction of the support for the lead plates(?), which are prone to keep the lead elements for a longer period of time, than the ones made of the expanded metal mesh used in newer batteries (because they are much cheaper to produce). Amega 3 and Viking Bronze use the expanded metal mesh, too.

There are two suggested power ratings for the Panda 1.2. The diesel needs a bigger one. A 2015 Panda needs the higher rated of the 2 non stop start batteries.

So I need an 012 battery, voltage - 12v - this is varta

Cca (en) - 530a
Capacity (c20) - 54ah

Or exide:

Cca - 540a
Capacity - 53ah

Which between the two, are the differences minimul?

What length battery earth strap?

Funnily enough that's exactly the battery I bought last month (£95 Amazon) for our Panda. It's an "027" battery which are bigger than the "012" which it replaced and is intended for stop-start. Overkill arguably but we have heated screen/seats so I figured why not. Either 027 or 012 will fit your car just make sure teh +ve and -ve terminals are orientated the same as what you have.

So why when I go on a search engine with my reg it's saying 012, do 27 not exist anymore?

Most sites only suggest 012 cos your car isn't stop-start so doesn't need the extra size and different type. You could easily get away with a 45Ah 012 battery for 45 notes I guess. Just get the poles right and both will fit in the tray, the Yuasa 7027 you have now a bit more snug.

Well I had a bodywork guy come to do some of my scratches yesterday, told him about my airbag fault, he looked at the battery and said it's the wrong type fitted, and the power is overkill as I don't have start stop, I have basic entry level panda Pop, he said the over power can kill the electrics in the ECU.

Is this possible?

Our Yuasa batteries are made in Wales.
