Hi everyone.
My daughter has just bought a 2010 Fiat 500 from a dealer who is a crook here in France.
On positive I get to fix the probems.
So first issue...there is a rattle at the back...not a knock...a rattle...took rear door apart as heard it could be wiring etc. no...spare wheel no.
It's a constant rattle when driving... A
Cannot recreate when not moving.
Are there any standard rattles to look for.
It bought it was the boot struts at one point...not those...
It's an all the time rattle..
Help please
Thanks in advance

If the rear seat splits have someone sit in the rear with the large part down, get them to try and locate the general position ?
As above 👍.
Prior to this remove rear shelf, boot contents and carpet, seat belts secured and any other accoutrements 🤔. Rear wiper lift off arm and any other bits like key ring, spare glasses.
Daughter and dad, off for a spin 🚗.
Best of luck

Dont forget to check the aerial mounting as well!( based on the above if you wanted to go to town you could also remove the taillights, exhaust, rear beam, springs, axle, and wheels!-this wont help you locate the fault! but the noise will definitely be gone!😉😁.
Seriously though hope you find it! nothing worse than a noise you cant pin down😤🤬😱.

Top shocker mounting bush and or rear exhaust hangers can transmit noise up into rear cabin…rear bushes and spurious exhausts, are common as are bump stops that come adrift and rattle in the coils

Exhaust heat shields are also a bugger for rattles, especially if one or two of the fixings corrode away. I had to do one the other day, and the portion around the fixing hole was gone, I used a big stainless penny washers which I had to hand. Worked a treat, although I'm scared to look at the potential difference between those two metals.

Thanks for the suggestions...climbed in the boot without anything in the car, spare wheel etc...definitly both sides..bushes, damper mounts or something...will take wheels off and see if I can spot anything
