Hi, we’re currently looking a purchasing a 2016 Fiat 500x (I think it’s the 1.6 E-torQ Pop Star) and had a few questions based on our test drive at the dealership.

I noticed that part of the interior trim on the passenger side in the back is missing (see picture), I think this is the seat track cover or end cover? Does anyone have any indication on the right part to replace here?

We also noticed that none of the DAB radio stations worked, the screen showed “station unavailable” for all of them. Is this easy to resolve?

Finally the air conditioning made a sort of hissing noise when on, is this just a case of it needing re-gassing?

We were quite impressed with the car and the price offered, what are people’s experiences with the 500x of this age?

Can't help with the specifics though on your last question, we have a 2016 1.4 cross plus which has been a good car since we bought it back in 2018. I had to reattach a small piece of exterior trim over the rear wheel, replace the tyres (worn out) but other than that have only had to do routine servicing

Can't really confirm (I have a 2015 500X) but as you say it looks like a plastics trim panel/plate is missing that covers up/allows easier access to the seat/seatbelt mounting point. This plate (if available) probably only cost a few pounds so I would be asking the dealer to get a replacement.

As air con hissing then this sounds like a leak / re-gassing required. This also should be sorted by the dealer. A re-gas is not that expensive but more importantly is there another issue? Again if the dealer wants a sale then they need to get the issue(s) sorted. ALSO ensure you get a Warranty (in writing) and check what it covers.

I just sold my 1.6etorq 85k on clock. Maintained regularly since new . Did excellent service . No issues . Great car for me.

Thanks all, I actually found the part number for the missing trim piece online (interestingly also used in the Jeep compass). £50 to buy which is a bit steep but not too bad.

Thanks for the advice on the re-gas, this is something the dealer has agreed to do now with a warranty on the car too. Sounds like positive reviews on the 500x, we’ve gone ahead and purchased it now.

Care to share where and how you found the part number?

In the US all the parts info is available to the public for the 500X / Renegade. However the US part numbers are completely different to the UK/EU ones.

Thus far I have not been able to find a US - EU cross reference.

Did the re-gas solve your hissing?

Mine does the same thing, but an A/C service (which I hoped was more in-depth than a simple re-gas) performed by my local centre didn't solve it. I can't hear the hissing if I have the blowers at around 40% or up but, and I don't want you to think I'm a pansy, if I have the blowers up that high it irritates the daylights out of me and my contact lenses!

I don't think the problem is as serious as a leak as they would definitely have stung me for more than a general service! I wonder if it is just a case of the hissing being a consequence of having the A/C on and only being audible because the blowers are down low. I tend to use the A/C to get the cabin where I want it and then turn the A/C off, letting the blowers deal with the acclimatised temperature on their own, but I'd love a proper solution.
