Technical DAB Radio?

Hi all, I recently bought a 65 plate 500x and it has the radio only 5" unit fitted with the radio only receiving AM, FM and MHz frequencies. Does anyone know if it's possible to modify the unit to receive DAB without doing the whole ariel on the windscreen job - did this on my last car (ford KA) and found the signal was TERRIBLE!

I've put another radio in my car (XTRON) and went for DAB+ which is supposed to be the next version of DAB, and did the window aerial thing.

Signal drops out when in remote areas, and makes a dreadful screaching as it tunes in and out, it's nicer to leave it off.
Dont use any other bands, as they are full of monotonous crap. The SD card works ok, as does Spotify via phone.
