Re: Vauxhall Astra Coupe

gave up with the Irmscher exhaust. the exit pipes were too short for the bumper. the coupe's have a weird exhaust system where the pipe is just under a foot long

so decided, i'll fabricate my own...:devil::devil:

went to my local exhaust centre, bought loads of parts for connecting the centre pipe to the back box. the back box it a simple oval shape exit, quite large, having to dent it to fit around the tyre well and suspension.

photos to be posted soon :slayer::devil:

Re: Vauxhall Astra Coupe

a couple of videos to go with the recent whitby trip.

got about 10 videos, but some i got caught up in traffic for 4 or more minutes, so pointless really.

the first video is going from the Fox & Rabbit pub on the moors, down to Thornton Le Dale. then the remaining videos are from York A19 to Sherburn along Stillingfleet.

Re: Vauxhall Astra Coupe

loooking and sounding goood mate...loving the exhaust idea(y)

keep it up bud looks ace:D

Cheers Brin,. I pic up the donor back box on Thursday. Ironically its going to be a Fiat Punto Supersprint

First vid 0.52 seconds (whats that coming over the hill is it a monster) andd bam a punto ;)

well that was the first Punto i saw all weekend. Whitby is like a Panda breeding ground. I saw about 30 in less than 2 hours!!!

Another video (y)

Re: Vauxhall Astra Coupe

Decided to give all of my alloys a full and proper clean

Everything that you need; 2 Microfibre cloths, Hosepipe, Deep clense Alloy Cleaner, Scrubber/Toothbrush, Demon Shine Spray Shine :D

Decided to look at my exhaust system, ready for its dismantling, RUSTY AND MUCKY :yuck:

Re: Vauxhall Astra Coupe

Haha :p

It is a really nice car actually, i don't think you should mod it too much more because the originalness is whats making it seem really unique if you get me. (Exhaust is a must though, the sxi astra across road sounds great!)

Them roads seem awesome! a few down here like that too :p

Just makes me want to drive my marea even more :'(

Re: Vauxhall Astra Coupe

And if it doesnt fit (and i end up keeping my punto) i can buy it off you :D

Not now ive attacked it with a saw... :slayer:

dont let me lose with a saw again!.

Ive decided not to go stupid with it now, im definately tinting the rear windows, and that might be it for externally.

Im halfway through the exhaust, as you can see..

(y)

As "JustAndy" will justify, im pretty useful when it comes to using a saw

Now all i need to do is weld on a 8inch extension pipe, then a reducer.

And remove my current exhaust. its rusted up big style, jacked it up, put it on axle stands and hit it with a hammer, didnt budge :bang:

lol yeah you are pretty good with a saw. Should have seen me the other day with an angle grinder to my bmx :D surprised i didnt loose a leg.
and im pretty sure youll need more than a hammer to get your exhaust off lol

Well ive just took it to a mates, and had proper axle stands, and might have used a sledge hammer on it.... still didnt come off

im thinking of cutting the pipe to remove it, but i still need the car untill i have my new one ready.

the problem is, i need to take the current one off to measure it and get the pipes correctly place :bang:

Re: Vauxhall Astra Coupe

GOT IT OFF!!! YAY!!! :slayer:, well my mate Richard did...

We heated the pipe and the bracket up with a blow torch and used a chisel and hammer to force separate the heated pipe.

This is the size of the new back box compared to the old one. Much smaller :D

And the exit pipe is much larger and looks alot better (y)

While i was there, Richard brought out his toy, a MG ZS 2.5l V6. Its such a good car to drive, bloody fast as well. Ive driven it a few times, but he's replacing the rear suspension, Each wheel is independent, so the rear can be a pain to change the bushes.

A MG Rover V6

Re: Vauxhall Astra Coupe

Wheyy! When you putting the supersprint on then? Or did you fit that at the same time? I still need to sort my spring out lol didnt have time today, ended up getting a snake instead lol

No, i got it off so i could see how much i need to cut off my extension pipe, i also need to readjust the brackets, the are out quite considerably, contemplating getting a exhaust strap instead of brackets, might work better for now...

however, while the backbox was off it was customary to video the exhaust :devil:

Ive noticed the snake, looks awesome, wouldnt have one myself, but i can see the appeal. i want a Gecko :)

yeah, i'd get it sorted ASAP, preferably before Sunday's meet (y)

lol yeah of course you had to see how it sounded, like i did with my induction when there wasnt a pipe of filter or anything lol.
I used to have 2 leopard geckos too :) and yeah car will be getting sorted tomorrow hopefully because i need it for work and i dont want to drive it at the moment. I think im bringing Jess to the meal but im working later on so can only stay for the meal and not the driving im afraid :(

Re: Vauxhall Astra Coupe

EXHAUST IS FINISHED :D

Kinda... still blowing a little bit where it meets the old centre section, so picking up some exhaust paste tomorrow to solve that! (y)

Please be aware, the second pic with me welding... i actually wasnt welding and it was turned off... NEVER USE A WELDER WITHOUT GLOVES!! it hurts... or use it near the garden waste bin

Yes i know the alignment is off too... thats another issue for tomorrow (y)
