Re: Vauxhall Astra Coupe

Personally I would have painted calipers silver, more subtle :)

I've not had a shot in one of these, I know they can be quite quick but need to be worked quite hard to get going, do a brin and bash a turbo on it, then it will fly ;)

Silver crossed my mind. but i decided to be sportier, while still been subtle. It works well in my opinion and with the alloys on doesn't stand out. remember they are large spoke alloys, so not completely visible. with the small multi spokes it might not work as well.

As for the speed. the engine is actually quite lazy. below 3000rpm its in cruise mode. but the torque is there to pull it. in first and second it will pull well at any RPM. in 3rd the ratios large to get longer. but once above 3000rpm its in the torque band and pulls upto 6500rpm. the quickest ive had it going was 100mph in 4th gear. (5200rpm)

Re: Vauxhall Astra Coupe

In germany of course on the autobahn (y)

nah, we'll say that it was Elvington Airfield at RWYB

Actually in honesty it was a mistake :p i got too used to the Punto's interior layout and the fact the Speedo only goes upto 120mph on the AS. I usually just glance at the dial for location not noticing the speed, gives a good estimate.

if you look on the Punto where 70mph is (on the 120mph dial) then thats 100mph on the Astra. and where it says 120mph, mine says 160mph :p

Re: Vauxhall Astra Coupe

looking good. do miss the punto tho. ;)

Cheers mate.

not the only one, im beginning to miss it too :( i think its just because im still getting used to the Astra more than anything. Was in Westhoughton were the Punto is up for sale, its still on the forecourt, and saw a youngish lass looking at it.

If began to settle to the Astra, there are a few quirks with it, but i still think its a fabulous car.

Lastest update;

Windows are getting tinted next week or early the following week

Re: Vauxhall Astra Coupe

Got bored today... So went for a drive. :D

I apologise for the poor image quality to start with camera didnt want to auto adjust to the brightness. :bang:

also sound is pretty bad because i had the windows down trying to stay cool and listen to the exhaust, but the wind messed up the audio. :(

Re: Vauxhall Astra Coupe

Gah, can't spot the difference, i hate these games!
It looks more shiney?

I know what you mean about the coupe practicality :p i have myself now a lovely 1.6 marea, although thats a saloon, the extra space is massively needed!

Not only that but it pulls so strongly for a car of its size, it'l be a nice upgrade from my 1.0 micra! (Although that engines a rev monster, max power at redline ftw!)

Gota sort my marea out first though! Really its the rust thats killing her at the minute haha, but i will sort it!

I also like the colour for the brake caliper, i think it suits it! Let us know how the astra progresses now!

Theres a lovely blue SXI? 1.6 Astra across road from my house, owner takes good care of it that for sure, and hes had it for a while so it should be fairly trouble free! :D

Re: Vauxhall Astra Coupe

Oh ffs, dam these hard days working on my fiat marea :p making me so tired haha!

Cheers maytey :p

Yeah, as samuraidragon pointed out, its been debadged partly. I think overall it looks much better with just the Griffin badge. thinking of putting a Bertone badge on the rear now.

Its kind of practical. much more space than the Punto ever was. had 3 people in the car, and me. and no one complained about rear leg room. head room on the other hand....

Cheers, the brakes seem to blend in now, i dont notice them myself now, but i still think they suit the car. just need a finer brush to go over them again.

as for progress. Starting a new job in a warehouse soon, so extra money.

planning on a few things.. Heres the very BAD photoshop to show my plans...

1) Tinting all round.
2) Vinyl wrapped roof, black.
3) Vinyl wrapped spoiler. Black.
4) Astra Mk5 VXr Alloys, 18" 10 Spoke.
