Has anyone done a window electric motor regulator replacement and if so help? We have a 58plate 1.2 GP and the nearside window motor wire has detached itself from the drum it is wound around and ceased to work:mad:
So far we have removed door card and I can see 3 bolts holding regulator/ motor in place but how do we detach window from mechanism? I can see a red plastic clip which appears to be attached to regulator and wire and I guess window but not sure where to go from this point and should I attempt it on my own:confused:

Help please

update window motor / regulator arm sorted and well pleased as to how easy it was and that is a novice talking, so it must be easy(y)

first of all I contacted local Fiat garage - well I wanted a laugh - they quoted me £136.89 + VAT for a new regulator arm and motor - which is attached to the arm anyway... once I had stopped laughing a quick search on ebay found me a breaker with one like new for £25.00 sorted, picture attached I think!

quick door card removal 5 phillips screws from bottom of panel and 3 hex screws one behind a small cover in handle recess and a further 2 either side of door grab handle. Ease out electric window switch and detach blue plug and then gently ease door card away from body lift it up and of it comes, now you have to detach the opening mechanism and an electric feed to a tweeter speaker in door card and that is it.

Remove dust cover and you can now see into the door and the regulator and motor etc. depending on what is wrong with yours somehow manoeuvre the bottom of the window to a position where you can reach the red tab. This is red tab is permanently connected to the regulator arm and makes the connection to the window by means of a grooved button which simply fits through a hole in the bottom of the glass, it also a has a loop at the bottom which clips up into the groove of the locator button when the glass is in position, so to remove, gently prise the loop down and ease grooved button out of hole in glass the window is now free t move up or down. Next there are 3 10mm nuts top middle and bottom of door undo these and regulator can now be removed. Replacing is simply the reverse of the above, all done in roughly 30 mins start to finish...Well pleased Happy Easter:D

2 failures in quick succession.
Anything to do with frozen windows at all ??

I think its more of a design fault then freezing weather. It appears the cable slips off the wheel wraps round the outside of the wheel then snaps.

Funnily enough it snapped when putting the window down, then it went straight back up.

At the moment if i want to open my window i just use two hands!!

My rear one went this week also mate, then again mine at the back is manual and not motor but again I am awaiting the part this morning so I can attempt a fix over the course of the weekend.

Apparently according to Fiat themselves "These go all the time we dont know why!".

Regards

Stephen

From a catalogue of magnetti marelli window regulators online for all manufacteres and models, the gp seems to have a different to the norm regulator. Its really easy to replace but also easy to go wrong
