I know this has probably been discussed a thousand times on here but which is generally considered the best interior for the pop? The dark/red or the dark/grey?

I don't think there is a 'best' interior, it's just down to personal choice.

Ivory Ambience outsells Black about 2 to 1 though.

If you go for the RnR Blue I would say go Blue/Ivory. If you go for BN White all the interiors look good.

After test driving the clio and the 500 on Saturday , one question thats nagging me is how my 11 year old puma still drives better than these new cars?

a very valid question, and I fear the answer is progress!

better active and passive safety has lead to increased weight and complexity, and the driver aids have actually detatched the driver from the seat of the pants feel

also you are used to your car and it is only natural to compare and contrast to it

same story when you make love to a different woman, doesn't mean there is anything wrong with her, just different ;)

Interesting, and I can understand why - everyone that sees mine says something along the lines of "wow, look at that interior". The ivory definitely sets the 500 apart from the greys and blacks of almost everything else.

I have a white pop and chose the cream ambience and dark grey interior. Looks fine however if I had my choice again I would have chosen the red.

If you had your choice again you would choose the red with black or ivory ambience?

I thought the Clio was a joke, the interior was so drab and was nowhere near as good to drive as the 500.

Obviously the Puma is a bigger engine and is well known for it`s great handling but I feel I have to get rid now after 112000 miles as I think a couple of years down the line it might suddenly just fall apart and then I would have to buy a new car anyway without the scrappage scheme. At the moment the engine is still sweet, it drives as fast as when I bought it, it could be the fact that I put that high octane fuel in it e.g optimax or tesco 99. It is getting rusty round the rear wheel arches though and the front suspension bushes are knocking a bit.

What keeps on nagging me is why haven't you just gone and ordered a car?
Sorry if this seemed a bit harsh and I do apologise :) I just think that you're losing out by holding off as you have done.

As for why cars don't drive as nicely today there's a very good reason. Cars these days are trying to remove driver involvement with things like ESP and traction control etc etc and the cars also have electric power steering which robs the steering of feel. In the space of a few years I went from a car with no power steering which meant awesome steering feel to a car which had hydraulic power steering which was still OK to the 500 which although surprisingly weighty for a city car doesn't give a huge amount of feel.

I did a bit of research when i decided i was scrapping my old one.
1; decide what cars you cant get discount on mito iq 500
2; cheap 500 iq mito
3; test drive iq 500 decided mito was too dear

4 check residuals 500 iq mito not sure
5; place deposit. 500

oh yes decided i wanted a quick one:devil:

I saw a scrappage deal on the ford fiesta to make it £7995. Was going to go for that until I saw the 1.25 fiesta has a 0-60 time of 17 seconds! What sort of a joke is that? I don`t mind changing to a slower car but from 8.8 to 17s is taking it too far. Why did they make it so slow?

The 1.4 Fiesta is nice to drive. Was tempted but a) it was dearer and b) they seem to facelift the fiesta every few years and wanted my car for the long haul. My last car was a Fiesta, I can't speak highly enough about it. Shame the 500 is far more gorgeous! :D

Why did they make it so slow?

They didn't make it slow, the made it heavy.

When the 1.25 engine was first released (about 13 years ago) the Fiesta weighed considerably less than it does now, and it was a great little engine that was more than capable of propelling the car along at a good rate. Since then the Fiesta has been replaced twice, and each time it has gotten bigger and heavier, and now the poor little 1242 can't manage it :(

That's the story of a lot of cars sadly. I wonder how much car safety has really moved on in the true sense. For instance if you went to Peugeot in the 80's and told them to add 3 or 400 kg's to a 205 GTi I wonder how much better it would perform in a crash than the actual car they made.
