What's made you smile today?

Having been off a week we've done most things we had planned...

"Things to do in Northumberland!" Comes up on YouTube suggestions why not? just for some ideas. But apparently I've spent most of the last 6 years since my son was born doing an extended version of Northumberland 250.

Does at least give some insight into why I keep seeing endless campervans on all terrain tyres.. apparently it's something similar to the NC500.

Strange way of doing things...turn up in a van walk a mile, get back in the van go somewhere else if the video is to be believed. Had to giggle at "Cragside kills an hour or so"..erm perhaps this is why you need to drive 250 miles in search of "experiences" when you could turn up, ditch the van and spend a day there without retreading the same ground. In an hour you could park up, walk to the house have a quick walk round then leave, this largely ignores the rest of the site.

People are odd..

Apparently there's quite a few waterfalls I've not seen but otherwise...completed it mate.

Mate comes from there and calls it ‘NoFunLand’

This made me laugh.
Somebody professing to be british, but unable to spell it.

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
Your link didn’t work but I’m going to hazard a guess it was this
(Plus, we are brittish, its TYRE!!)

There is a certain irony to making a spelling mistake while trying to correct someone’s spelling.

Gets better when later on he makes further comments
The fact you'd be able to write your name in anything beyond crayon seems like a miracle. Keyboard just must be pure luck with the random finger bashing.
Glad someone else noticed

Yep, tbh I just won't get involved with all that, I can't be bothered, doesn't mean I didnt read it when having a break, on one of my many other projects.
Armchair warriors, the nets full of 'em.

Only know two born n bred there…
Edit: oh and their parents and their kids 🤪

The @1973 reshuffle of County Boundaries made the Oxfordshire area I was brought up and lived in different

Many established things called "North Berks", as weirdly Abingdon : home of MG Cars.. was the "county town" of Berks (Barkshire of old..)

It's around 5 miles from Central Oxford..

They live in the imaginatively named west Oxfordshire, the family’s been their generations and we’re, historically, tenant farmers

Ah, that's right. I was born in Bucks, suddenly became Berks.....was young, and so couldnt care less then, and even less now.
Was about voting, parties needing numbers in their favour, if I remember?

You do realise that only two are required for breeding purposes;););)
Yes but Pandas are notoriusly slow at getting it on and producing young so we have gone for quantity, Apparently we have three girls and 1 boy or is Nudge AC/DC LOL I thought he was a male panda. My daughter syas hes female....

Yes but they are notoriously slow in the reproductive department so we got 4. No sure what sexes they are, its difficult to tell. Only the Chinese know about this. Penny and Ruby are females apparently, and Noop is male. Nudge may be AC/DC, as I said she is male, and my daughter says hes a female! LOL

Becky is indisputably female but the jury is still out on Bluey (the Scala) family opinion is split. I'm tending towards thinking of her as female myself.

Internet banking today...

Apparently I'm doing well reigning in my spending according to the spending insights.

I've spent 8 grand less than I had at this time last month.

Some impulse control that not buying a new car every month.

Just bought something off Temu today...never used the site before.

Now lets see what turns up 🤔

If my wife's experience is anything to go by...it'll arrive but either be of questionable quality or 6/8ths scale.

Although usually it's so cheap it's not worth sending back.

We recently got some muslins...they are exactly as pictured except they failed to mention they zoomed right in on the picture 🤣

Because our bank is closing it's last branch that's anywhere near us and we neither have smart phones or the knowledge to feel secure and happy doing on line banking and are over 60 years old, We've just recently signed up for telephone banking with our bank. It's been a good experience so far. A dedicated phone number which you ring - it's for over 60's only - and, once you're all set up with passwords and pin numbers, you actually get to talk to a specially trained member of the bank staff and you carry out your transaction with them just as if you were in the bank talking to the person behind the counter. So far I've checked my current balance, transferred money to my younger boy for him to buy materials for an unusually big job he's got on and checked that money owed was actually transferred into the account on time. Wish I'd known about this service sooner, it would have saved us struggling to park for our local branch or having to go up into the city to the head office. I didn't know that I can also do "stuff" at the post office if needed, like withdraw cash and make pay ins. Early days yet, but it's all looking very promising.

Out of interest who is that with?

My dad is very resistant to doing things online and his main bank (ironically the Co-operative) is as a result a nightmare to deal with.

Both his car and my car came from the same garage. Handover for me took 20 minutes...turned up transferred the money on my phone the checked they had it in their account and once done they gave me the key and off I went.

His bank decided it was possible fraud...and started asking questions like are you sure the car exists? (He was looking at the car through the window outside)...the whole song and dance taking 3 hours.

Bizzare state of affairs to me as surely just because I can operate internet banking doesn't mean I'm immune to being defrauded if anything it makes it easier to send money to someone you've never met but absolutely no checks at all...but hey because he phones up a man in an outsourced call centre decides it must be fraud...even when the recipient of the money is a registered business.

We swapped from Santander and TSB to starling and monzo, both of which are excellent
