Old Fiat engines will run on Chip fat by the time we've got em... They're indestructable ;)

Like who on here has had a complete engine failure in the whole time any of you folk have been using the forum?

BTW, I've told Jim to take it easy on the poor pandas today after all their trials in the last few weeks

So 'What have we done for our panda today?' is let em rest!

Got an oil and filter change planned some time this week.

Ditto. lol. Decided dad's Selecta could do with some loving after the weekend of gunning it up and down the country :p

Am also going to do a CVT oil (gearbox oil) change as I doubt it's been done in years.

Craig, we've always used 10/40 with no problems (y)

actually stuck 20w50 in this time just to see if I could coax that oil pressure up a bit, mega mileage on the old thing now. No noticeable difference. It's had a run up to Scotland and back today though and the oil leaking out round the pressure sensor has done a great job of supplementing the underseal on the leading edge of anything sticking out on the right hand side underneath so looks like I'm going to have to do something about it again fairly quickly:bang:

The 20/50 i put in P/haze dont seem to make much diff....did it coz after a flush it started making a "knock knock" sound.(No not telling jokes!!) Never flushing an old engine again!!!

The Princess is in the garage today for new driveshaft boots / bearings if required.

Next month I will replace rear shocks and service / replace brakes myself.

I am using Avanti Autos in Ipswich, there was a wonderful array of Fiats / Lancias in there including an old J reg 500 in bright yellow. Lovely car.

Done a compleate engine and gearbox service on dad's Selecta. Changed spark plugs, oil, oil filter, air filter, and the all important CVT oil in the gearbox (yes the £10 a Litre stuff ).

Only took 90 min, with taking our time in the basking heat. Only 21k on the clock and I noted that the haynes says the gearbox oil should be done every 27k (or 3 years) which I think it was probably done long over 3 years ago. lol.
