Just want to know what BHP you can take a 1.4 T-JET 150 to with it still being stable? Would 200BHP be fine or would you have to change certain things?

I'm sure I remember someone going past 200bhp on here and having to wind it back. Can't remember if that was an mjet or tjet though.

As it stands, at 150bhp, my original Pirelli tyres are totaly inadequate! Anything more than a sedate start causes wheelspin, especially on damp roads - been the same from day one.

I'm putting some Continental Premium Contact 2 tyres on in the next couple of weeks. We shall see what, if any, improvement they make.

Anyone used blackcircles.com?

WELL.. if you dont intend to do any modifications to ur car leaving it as standard... then i dont think Bravos can handle more than their standard BHP power (150)..

Mine has been running 180bhp for about 15 months now. Induction and remap at GSR and not had any problems, clutch still seems fine. I've done about 12k in that time and not missed a beat. Just had it's MOT today and passed without issue.

I'm running Kumho K31's on 17's and they are much better than the cheap ditch finders that the car came with. They handle pretty much all of the power, you just need to learn when lanching the gas pedal isn't either on or off.

To put things into context with my old ditch finder tyres, with 1 passenger and half a tank of fuel I ran a 0-62 sprint with a G-Tech and managed 7.02 seconds.

The money required to get the car to 200bhp and onwards wasn't worth it to me as I doubt the chasis would handle it well. Either way you would be looking at a new gearbox, clutch, turbo possibly injectors plus something like a FMIC.

I would say @ 200hp you wouldnt need to change the clutch or flywheel providing your not race starting! even at 150 you can easily wreck the clutch and flywheel by race starting... and as for the gearbox it's rated to take between 200-400nm of torque so i doubt at 200hp you will be pushing over 400nm...

All that said it could cost you a fair amount to get it at 200hp.... but if you do please please post where and what you got.

As a start a remap from g-tech is the best bet.. they said i can get 176hp and 285nm of torque!!

or a TMC box for 180hp 245nm of torque, and you also want to consider a GSR induction kit, and maybe even the larger intercooler from forge its for the grande punto but the part number is the same as bravo.. As for exhaust's ragazzon do some nice ones and 200cell cats are available to.

hope this helps (y)

Looking at a GSR kit and a Tuning box and perhaps the Hybrid Turbo. Will let you guys know. Cheers for the Info:slayer:

I have a GSR induction kit and TMC tuning box so around the 180 mark, and to be hionest the standard chassis struggles, need to upgrade suspension to get the most from it as well as decent tyres, which i hope to sort in the next few months. After that I think with a Cat back exhaust and uprated intercooler, it will be nudging the 200 mark, but i think for much more your looking at cams, hybrid turbo and uprated injectors which i have seen somewhere to give 265bhp, but then for the cost, i would get a mkv second hand golf gti, and bluefin, which would be pretty good fun.

265 is from scorpion tuning, and it's a bit much to ask from the upgrades you listed.

I've got a hybrid turbo, custom forge FMIC (bigger than the GP one), GSR induction, cat-back exhaust and a remap. I haven't spun it up lately but I'm around the 190/200 mark, but thats all good on paper, you've just got to put it down - Bilstein PSS coilovers (£770) are next on my list as I've got eibach springs at the moment, along with a de-cat/sports cat (£200/£400).

I'm going to try an LSD from quaife (£680) and I'm getting the max road cams from the Abarth GP (£599).

I'm not having much luck with the injectors? Anyone?

Next obviously is pistons, cylinder head, clutch and flywheel but as you said, you're starting to talk mega bucks for fine engineering etc.

Not sure how stable these mods will be but there's only one way to find out!

You won't get near or over 200 bhp with the IHI turbo, its just not big enough. I'm just back from England after spending 2 days converting a 500 Abarth to the Garrett GT1446 turbo from Punto SS, full Milltek stainless exhaust, high flow cat, induction kit, remap, uprated oil cooler, uprated water pump. First dyno run made 226.4 bhp and 405nm! This had a trough in the graph though because we need a stronger wastegate actuator which has been ordered, to get a more linear graph I had to drop the power to 209bhp and 352nm.

So its definately possible to go above 200 but not without major mechanical modifications. I have taken loads of video footage of the rebuild and dyno runs but its gonna take a couple of days to edit. I'll get some pics up as soon as possible.

Nice one! This is first time I have read some UK info on a T-Jet well over 200BHP. Look forward to any and all info you can provide in whatever media you have.

Did you use the Punto EsseEsse injectors? When you say "major mechanical modifications" are you referring to internal engine modifications or just what you mentioned in your post?

No engine internals, the block is strong and the standard injectors are not running near full duty cycle even at this power. Just the parts listed plus lots of new steel braided hoses. Im uploading a video to Youtube now which will show the whole process of strip down and rebuild so you can see exactly how its done, I think this will be the first video clip of this work done to a 500. Should be up soon and i'll post a link.

Great stuff. Just to clarify- standard T-Jet injectors or standard Punto EsseEsse Injectors?

Standard Abarth injectors, even at this power they were not running at full duty cycle so are up to the job, my guess is over 250 bhp you would have to upgrade them but TBH 210 bhp on this car is really strong, I honestly don't think it needs any more, there are a couple with 290 but those are mainly used for tracks. For road use this car feels just perfect.
