Hello

My headlights are not working correctly. I found that I need to replace the headlight connector on the body computer because the wires on the connector are a bit corroded and melted.

The problem is, I'm having trouble removing the connector so I can replace it.
What can I do to get the connector off?

There will be a lock tab. In this case, from the photo's it looks as if its underneath the wires and you need to squeeze it upwards (in the photo). The corrosion is very severe so expect to to be very tight. Start by spraying the whole connector with electrical contact cleaner. Give it a good wash out! Squeeze the tab and use a very small screw driver as a pry moving from each end in turn lever very slightly a few times then tap the connector back on and repeat. Hopefully it will come free. The types of lock mechanism vary so you need to look very carefully to decide exactly what you have. It could be either end or the middle and could be a lift or push. Once you have the right tab they usually give up with gentle persuation. Be patient and take time. Easier to spend an hour being slow and gentle than 5 minutes wrecking it! Use your phone camera to take lots of pics and see what it can see that you cant.

If necessary unbolt the ecu to get a better view. It might well be better to resecure it to finally remove the wires as this may give more control.

A really good clean with electrical contact cleaner airosol may just resilve the issue for you without going further.

Push down here and pull

If the mechanism is damaged you might have to unlatch it manually by jamming something in to lift the bottom edge of the latch
