Hi Guys. I am new to the forum. While I was changing the air filter on my 2007 1.1 Panda I noticed a cable/connector hanging down at the back of the engine but I cannot see where it might have come from. Could be a "spare" lead for something not available on my car? It goes to the wiring sub harness where the MAP sensor and tank breather valve connect. It seems odd that I haven't seen it before as I've been servicing the car for the last few years including replacing the exhaust (the cable was hanging just above it). A garage fitted a new clutch last year after the MOT. This year it hasn't passed MOT due to emissions problems. See photos, I've looped the cable around the Evap Control pipe to stop it falling back. Thanks in anticipation.

Or it could be the speed sensor for cars without ABS

Many thanks for those ideas. I'll be working on it again tmw so I'll see if I can check out the wire colours. If it's the obsolete speed sensor cable, just zip tie it up out of harms way I guess?

It is

No need for the colours

Yes you can just tie it out of the way

Plug need to face down, although it's obsolete it does share power with the evaporation system

Originally it was left dangling above the gearbox, and does not cause any issues

And would have plugged in here, which has been blanked off like this one on 99.9% of cars left on the roads

Great! Well, it starts anyway. It was the Evap Control valve that I was dealing with after a Check Engine Light & relevant code. I checked the original unit and its duff but the Topran replacement is about 1mm smaller at the end connecting to the blue pipe. I've made it bigger with PTFE tape! Hope it will pass MOT emissions now.
Cheers, Scott
