1150 single or 1090 dual is dual meaning for twin wheel? ... british alternative ?

I’ve no MH or RV experience – so running ≥ max L&I is unknown to me.
I’m aware some folks come-back-off the max pressure to trial a possible pressure e.g. 90% of max – but wasn’t aware a tyre manu. would advise running on max. My understanding is you can overload a wheel, but not the axle – e.g. a 2 tonne axle with one wheel at 1.1 & the other at 0.9 … over-inflate the 0.9 to the same as the 1.1, but the individual max L&I shouldn’t be exceeded. A dual is a twin wheeler on same axle – but I believe with a tag rig you can please yourself whether you use the single or dual from an L&I table.

I’m searching for something in English Law on this topic – e.g. when there’s a `disappointing incident’ involving an MH with tyres outside the L&I tables, what’s the outcome?

Avon? Tirerack list the source of the Agilis as Italy.

Edit: I've found L&I data for 215/75R16 C & CP tyres here ...

I have underlined the first line of your post for a reason and to give you a different perspective.

I have a Burstner Active van on an AlKo tag axle chassis. If we start at the front axle, I have a fuel tank. Just behind it (on the same side, UK nearside) I have 2 x 11 Kg gas bottles, then a 120 litre fresh water tank, 2 x 110 Ah batteries, a 100 litre waste water tank. All of these near the front and all on the nearside under a false floor. Directly above them is a double dinette with 2 x double bench seats with seatbelts fitted. So, what do 4 average adults weigh?

My point is that my van can never legally carry 6 adults, full fuel tank and full fresh water tank. It badly overloads the front axle and most of the extra weight is on the front nearside tyre.

This is why the best pressures for a particular vehicle may differ from what a chart says. I hope that clears up a few points for you.

BTW, a motorhome with 4 wheels is much more liable to be overweight on the rear axle due to the long rear overhang.

His head bowed, his feet shuffelling he was suitably chastised! Ahh
But if the EU has its way and forces people to replace their tyres every two years or so (which i read in the mail, so it must be true) surely it makes sense to go for the cheaper option and as i said i will be almost fulltime so not a lot of standing around.

The difference in price between an equivalent van tyre and a camping type is 20-30% the eu already have exceptions in type approval, vehicle licencing, driver licencing etc, for motorhomes there will surely be an exception for camping tyres. Anyway if/when its ratified counties will typically agree a schedule for implementation which in the case or Ireland is about 4 years.

... and to give you a different perspective ... that clears up a few points for you.

Thanks for your interesting comments - I know how awful you must feel.

I do have experience of weight & balance calculations for aircraft operations & golly-gosh I can’t put a bum on every seat & carry a full fuel, baggage & cargo load either. Who do I complain to about this perspective?

I do have the aid of a manufacturer’s chart – given I have to show evidence that my calculations are within the performance limits. But the chart indicates the performance limits of the vehicle when new – so best to give myself a margin for error.

If I get it wrong, assuming I survive (should we get off the ground at all), we get spectacular results - & after we wash out all the passengers with a hose-pipe, my insurer will be somewhat resistant to cover property or personal liability. Then there’s the AAIB (Aircraft Accident Investigation Branch).

Perhaps some pre-flight weight & balance calculations against a Buster &/or chums limits chart may help get one’s thinking straight. There’s no MH AIB to worry about, but one wouldn’t want to face litigation for pilot error & failure of duty-of-care … would one?

Have today took delivery of 4 michelin camper tyres ...

On the sidewall - what is the max psi? & the manuf. plant code?
Can’t recall where now – but saw somewhere they was made in Italy.

In recent years I’ve had: Bridgestone from Spain; Conti’s from UniRoyal, Aachen; Fulda from Goodyear, S Africa; & Falken … that were made in Japan.

Hi people,

last week I have bought a Ducato 244 :D (my first van)

Thx to the forum I have found the owners Manual

So I check the tyre pressure , and it's wrote 4 Bar (rear & Front)

But i'm little chock because I check the pressure of my tyre and it was 2.2 Bar
(I bought it from a Fiat Dealer so I was thinking it was the good pressure, and when i'm looking at my tyre the shape seem correct)

So I'm actually under pressure ? or 2.2 is correct ?

info
Tires = GoodYear Cargo G26 (max pressure 4.48Bar)

2.2 is way too low dangerous even.

4 bar is correct, if I'm lightly loaded I will sometimes run a little less 3.6bar in the back for comfort.
