Hi I'm thinking of putting 4x4 tyres on my 2001 fiat ducatto hymer. Has anyone on here done that?
It's currently running on Michelin Agilis 215 / 70 /R15 on standard steel wheels.
What is the largest tyre (width and side wall height) I could fit please that it doesn't rub the bodywork on full lock.
TIA

There are wheel and tyre sites online that can give all the options for different models.
However just because a 4x4 tyre looks big and chunky doesn't mean it will be suitable for carrying the load of a big MH , check the other numbers on the sidewalls of your original tyres relating to tyre load ratings.
A standard tyre for a 3.5 tonne van may not be stiff enough for a high sided MH when cornering as more sideways load.
Also some 4x4 tyres are made pliable to aid grip off road.
Another point is they will wear out quicker due to there actually being less tread on the road with all the gaps between the treads plus the extra flexibility they have, so the rubber blocks move more.

Hi.
If you have any issues with insurance at all for a change of tyres then please feel free to drop me a line.
Regards,
Dan.

Doubt you'll get a 4x4 tyre within your gross weight.
There are at least two tires manufacturers (Goodyear and Yokohama) that are producing AT / MT tires for vans / motorhomes such as the Ducato / Sprinter. I don't know the tire size for the 2001 model, but they are on my shopping wishlist, however to be purchased just before the end of the build. I have 16" rims on my heavy chassis x250 and the chosen tires are Yokohama GEOLANDAR A/T G015 225/75R16 115 R.

Also at least on the x250 model, Dangel made a 4x4 conversion and definitely it was possible to have AT tires on the van. I was myself considering such a setup, but other factors were more important.
