Had a leaky rocker cover on my 1.4 Grande, had to pull the timing cover and was confronted with the below, its turns out my 112,000 mile 17 year old Grande has never had a timing belt (I have only had it a couple of weeks) despite 'full' service history. I did have every intention of having it replaced soon anyway, but this has made it a little more urgent. Thankfully I have other cars to use for now until I book it in at work.

Any recommendations on brand? I was looking at just getting a Gates kit, but I can largely order any through work, so would welcome recommendations.

Was it necessary to start another thread (litter the forum)?
There is plenty of "timing belt" threads here (and the Guide with a Discussion section), you could(should) ask there.

Belt brand does not matter much. Other things can be more problematic (water pump, tensioner, timing tools and the Procedure).
Gates, INA, Continental, whatever. Just do it (replace old cracked belt) - most important thing here (not brand - last thing to worry).

No problem, I will ensure my post is deleted. I came here for like minded help and chat, clearly I found the wrong place, as this is not the first aggressive and needlessly rude response I have seen on here.
