I currently have a stilo which is due to be replaced. for those who dont know its a 1.2 stilo so im really happy with fuel economy, but not so with performance (and reliability!)

i was thinking of a diesel 120 for the fuel economy and power, but this would be a poverty spec. i then looked at the T-jet 120 sport, which has spoilers and alloys and this also appeals to me.

my questions are,
1. what is a T-jet engine and what is mpg stacked up against the 1.9 120?
2. what is this car like reliability wise?
3. is the 5 year warranty any use?
4. which of the 2 is better?
5. are these cars ok?

for me insurance isnt a problem, both are the same and £5 a month than what i pay now, the tax on the T-jet is higher but deisel costs more to buy for the multijet, and the multijet is more expensive

i really want a 3 door and when i have looked at focuses they have been boring or low spec and its hard to find a 3 door, astras are hard to find and bore me so i looked at seat leons and they are bland and cheap dashboards and not 3 door, so as the bravo wasnt 3 door i didnt really look at it. all cars above apart from the bravo in my price braket have large miles on them. the T-jet i have seen has none. same with the multijet.

1. The T-Jet engine is the turbo charged petrol engine. I think most people with the 120 T-Jet engine are getting mid - late 30's in mpg?

2. So far I don't think anyone has had anything major go wrong with their Bravo's. A few niggly things maybe but there's been no common problems arising. They seem to be well built and very reliable.

3. The same as any warrenty on any car, It's a good thing o have and should cover you well with any problems.

4. Depends on what you want from a car.

5. I'd recommend the Bravo. Superb looking. Value for money. People always comment on it's looks.

I take it you're looking to buy 2nd hand?

The 1.9 120 is a solid 50mpg car.

I think I've had the most problems, but then again I've had mine almost as long as any other owner and with a couple of exceptions I've done the most mileage. Almost all have been trivial little things. Only slightly major one was a loose wiring harness caused the engine to go into limp-home mode. Saying that - I could still drive it and overtake some cars :D

definitely get a bravo, I never tried the Tjet model, but I have a 1.9l 120 multijet and it's fairly economic and has great performance, especially after the remap.

also the interior in the bravo is the best of its class, if you can get one with skydome and automatic AC go for it.

If you are looking for best economy go for the 1.6 diesel. It is very refined also! It is quite power especially compared to the 1.2! And tax and insurance would be cheaper on the 1.6 than 1.9!

can i say the 120T-jet should give me mpg like my 1.2 stilo? 50+ on mway and about 40 for town?

only thing that really niggles is that it has 5 doors

Even with 5 doors it looks great,it shouldn't put you off the new Bravo.
If you find that it is that which puts you off then there isn't any point going for one.
Is there a particular reason that having five doors niggles you,i know you say your Stilo has only 3,is that the only reason.

Hi, I own a T-jet 120. Mpg with turbocharged petrol engine varies with the fact, how you drive it. Honestly, I myself vary from 6.8 - 7.8 l/100 km (34 down to 30 mpg). The car has only 3900 km on the counter and I expect for the mpg to increase after it reaches 10k km (below 1000km, the mpg was below 30). But be ware, if you go for the non turbo version (Starjet), you will get less mpg, becouse the engine is to weak for such a heavy car. I was also worried for the fuel consumption, before I bought it and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. 34mpg is very good for such a powerfull petrol engine.

I hope this helps you out, althou the multijet will give you much better mpg (40-50)

Cheers

i can get over the 5 door thing if its not too bad.

my main concern is mpg performance from a t-jet120

26mpg is rubbish considering I was getting that, at least, from a 2.4l 5 cylinder Stilo which wasn't exactly deemed as economical. But from a 1.4?:bang:

mpg means more than CC. Your forgetting the 1.4 has a turbo and is almost the same bhp as the 2.4.

Driven like a old nun on the way to the dentist. you would be looking at maybe just under 40 around town and about 45-50 on long cruises with the 120.

Hasn't been on the motorway for quite a while, and not getting out of 4th gear when it has 6 is getting these poor results.
Will be out driving it properly next month on the motorway so hopefully the figures will be a bit better than that:tempt:

Isn't the idea of a smaller engine fitted with turbo reduced emissions and improved economy?

been out in a 1.4 90bhp today, felt nice and was just as quick as my 1.2 stilo, clutch was bloody light in it.

Then i went out in a 1.6multijet, the £35 tax one with 105bhp, that was a bit nippy as long as your on boost, was a suprising amount of turbo lag on it, but was just out my price range really as it was dynamic spec so had the blue&me stuff in it and that fancy aircon

Going to see a t-jet sport 120 soon, but it doesnt have blue&me.

i went to two dealers and one was more geared up for selling diesel 1.6 and the other tjet petrols (especially 150s! they had one in with every option on it, £19k!) som im even more confused.

i think im more tempted for the tjet120 sport just worried about petol costs

i also looked at a 1977 ford granada coupe 3litre V6, but that would be not for everyday use!
