General thinking of getting a bravo

General thinking of getting a bravo

Yes but to get the claimed MPG you have to drive a very special way.

I'm not talking about nancy driving. The 2.4 was a 10 year old engine with more cc and more cylinders, therefore by this alone it should be more thirsty, yet the 1.4 is in the same vicinity. Is the 26 driven hard or average?

26mpg is just around town driving and no motorway, would get more i am sure when driven on the motorway and full gear usage is used, due to ill health i haven't been able to use it properly yet,but that will change next month:D

thanks beast, that helps me get closer to what im looking for,

been out in a normal tjet120 and a multijet120 and there is a world of difference

you can feel the turbo in the diesel more, i thnk its a low compression turbo in the petrol so its assisting all the time through the revs.

im off to see a sport 120tjet tomorrow to see if i like that.

i drove an astra 1.4SXi sport hatch today, didnt feel as nice as the fiat and the car felt cheaper, also was in a 1.6 astra design sport hatch, that felt nice but again, still not great.

the focus' i saw were too expensive or had silly miles on it.

although i did get to drive a 1.9multijet with 27k on it and it still felt as new as the 2k miles 1.4

still a bit torn on what to get.

focus and leons out the window

its bravo or astra now

I test drove the same cars as you!

I hated the astra, rubbish interior, not as nice to look at, too common, and didnt drive half as nice!

the astra had heavier steering even compared to bravo out of city mode!

astra didnt feel as cramped as bravo did, but selecting 5th in the astra meant the gear knob was under my left leg almost.

both astra and bravo felt solid, petrol astra sounded as rough as bravo diesel.

i think bravo is the way forward

hi,

i get 26mpg round town, and just today got 45mpg on a trip from gaydon!

What are you looking to spend? There's quite a few Multijet 120s on AutoTrader for around £8500. Alot of those were Dynamic spec too. Id go for a Multijet if you wanna get decent MPG. The Tjet MPG figures in real life dont seem that great.

Plus id imagine the 1.9 120 Multijet would be more of a bargain as theyre not making Bravos with that engine now. There was one at Piccadilly in Wakefield for under 9k about a week ago i think, a Dynamic in Cool Jazz Blue.

well, took the rs looking at cars today and she doesnt ike the focus or astra, she likes the bravo and she likes the tjet sport i took out today for a test spin. infact she loved it.

thinking this is how to go forward.

I dont think for the extra fuel costs, service costs and purchase costs a mjet 120 is, its not going to save me any money getting the mjet

i was hammering the Tjet today and averaged 28mpg so looks good in that i could get this to the 40s with my style of driving

Have you not thought about a grande Punto. Just like the Bravo but a bit smaller?

I get an average of 60 mpg on my MJ so if thats what you want to focus on then seems like one to be considered?

At work all our cars are lease and the astra isnt impressive at all. I would definately reconsider that one.

I do like the bravos and grande Puntos so maybe i am biast? :p

I had a GP for a couple of weeks while I waited for my Bravo to be delivered and they are horrid little cars!

I had a 1.4 Dynamic or something and I couldnt get it to move! The seats were so uncomfortable and flat...I just really didnt enjoy the car at all!

Just my opinion of course!
