You may joke but BMW gave me a 4.6 V8 BMW X5 to play with a few years ago, I had it for 10 mins and broke it!! Drive it back to the dealers, they removed the computer, sat it on the parcel shelf for 10 mins, stuck it back in again and the bloody thing worked!!! - A kind of automoative Ctrl-Alt-Del!!!
Another BMW trick is to remove the battery then join the +ve & -ve leads turn on the ign to disperse any residual voltage and leave for min of 2 hrs but 24hrs is preferable. As the gearbox is also ECU controlled many have reported results that the car feels smoother and more responsive when this is done, others report there is no difference.
Whilst not a lot has been getting done on the B lately due to time constraints and now the rather cold weather, things have been afoot on the toolbox front
I have traded in my MAC toolbox for a rather posher set of Snap-On boxes at a mere £2700 plus the dreaded
Hey..........it's only money That's what I tell the missus anyway...........
Pure porn !!! What can you say Snap-On stuff is a bit OTT for me plus its way out of my price range.
Bec's just picked up my top box for Xmas. Its sitting in the frontroom and will go under the tree. Looks like i will have to spash some cash on some tools to fill it.
Always makes me a little envious when I see a toolchest like that!!
I started my career as an apprentice mechanic for LeylandDAF, as part of the package LeylandDAF 'gave' each apprentice a full 'started' Snap-on tool set which I then added to, in all I guess I had a few grands worth of tools. Then, over a Christmas shutdown period the workshops were broken into and everyones tools were stolen - police believe it was an inside job as only the tools went - not the TV in reception............
Shortly after that I changed career and have never re-stocked my tools........
I am rather OCD when it comes to my tools
The wooden top on the smaller one is made from maple, the only thing going on there is a coating of linseed oil every fortnight!!
