This was my first attempt to build my own dash, you may be able to pinch a couple of ideas from it.............

I've seen the light now though and these days I stick to the original design, I just change the material to match what I'm doing.

Edit: How about making your own hammock dash and door cards with this.......

Vern, I have to ask, the central console switches and chrome widget....what do they do?
I will be making a beeline for this on the Panda Camp outing :)

I was going to give the answer Andrew gave but he beat me to it. :p

This Panda was being built with the yoof in mind and as a result I had a few blue l.e.d's around. So the three blue rocker switches, as well as lighting up blue themselves, were to operate hidden strips of l.e.d's in the roof, l.e.d's in a comaprtment in the boot that housed an amplifier, and blue front spot lights.

The big round chrome thing was an exhaust tailpipe trim similar to this one.......

It too had blue l.e.d's in it. In the centre of the exhaust trim is a push button engine start switch. So, when you turned on the ign. the 'engine start' script on the button would light up blue. Then when you pressed it to start the car all the l.e.d's around the exhaust tip would light up until you let go of the button.

Seemed like a good idea at the time.

Wow cracking dash Vern. I think I will be going fo something a little less sophisticated. In fact I will try for basic and functional, which probably means it will end up as standard.

Managed to get enough colour round the windscreen to make my mind up about the vents

I think the vents are history.

But if they go and so does the std dash; will I be a whicker man. O'er missus

you know you want hot air coming out of those vents.. just think how good that would be..

the one thing that annoys me a little with the panda on a cold morning is the one heating vent.. sure your left hand is all fine and good.. but your right hand is like.. damn cold with nowhere to warm it. :/

guess the one hot air vent is another thing that makes the panda though. still.. when heated side vents could be done and hidden.. heh

have i sold this to you yet? if i have you will thank me come the sub zero temperatures hehe

Ever had one of those days when you feel like you are trying to push water uphill.?
As a treat I had planned to fit the engine & gearbox today.

This is an engine, gearbox and car that have never been as one before.
The bits necessary to constuct this jigsaw are in various ice cream tubs and boxes. And I don't know what they look like........

It began as trying to fit the eng and box seperately from above and quickly became fitting the eng/gearbox as a unit from below.

At which point I realised that I had two starter motors, neither of which seemed to be suitable.

As I pressed on regardless nothing got easier.
Evetually I did get the unit installed but I have eithe got the gearbox to body mount upside down or it is the wrong one.
Ditto the lower gearbox mount.......... And the 4x4 output shaft doesn't look like it is pointing in the right direction.
The whole unit seems to want to go 30mm toward the nearside.

Will I end up making my own mounts or will this sort itself out.

I was freezing cold and miserable all day. I hate days like this..!

maybe you can cross your arms over while driving and alternate as to which hand gets the warm air. Or drive one hand on the steering wheel while sitting on the other one in between the gears:p

gloves just seem to easy really
