General Seat Panda Terra

General Seat Panda Terra

Mostly connected up now

As this loom is built up from two different MK2 items and a MK1 I haven't sorted the extra relays yet.
I don't think I will need the heated rear screen one

Of course I had forgotten that the front harness was in two pieces as well.
Makes you laugh how the wiring colours changed between models.
Well no actually. I didn't laugh much for about 3 hours and a zillion soldered joints.

My wife had a Austin mini, I completely rewired that with bigger gauge wires. It helped as I nearly set fire to it when I wired in some Rally spots to replace the main beam before the rewire ;)

Well it's been pretty quiet on the 'Panda Terra' front. Due to circumstances it will probably be the end of July before I get a chance to work on it next. Crazy how sometimes I was getting a couple of hours a day on it. Ah well; all I have to do is live long enough.
I'm consentrating on the Bedord while the weather is warmer. It's at home as well which helps.

I sorted some insurance out today though. I tried a few places and then went to 'Buckingham' insurance. I found an ad in a monthly mag and was attracted because they do multiple vehicles. They are mainly aimed at older vehicles but don't mind things that have been (shall we say) imported and then mucked about with.
Mangage to get a limited mileage deal on my Bedford CA and the Terra.
Fully comp at £143.! Sometimes it's good to be old. (Me and the vehicles)They didn't even insult me by asking for NCB

:bang: So I have the Seat Panda Terra which is 90% finished and my lovely old Bedford which is about 30% along the way and I'm off on hols for 5 weeks.
It sounds alot but I work rather intensively so it takes a while to recharge the old batteries y'know.
I managed a vist to the 'Terra' the other day; which was incredibly frustrating so it was brief in the extreme, I get no pleasure from just looking at things.
The Panda Dance is off to VmanC's. It's a great little car but I just can't generate any enthusiasm for a standard vehicle and it is just too good for me to abuse.
I have some sordid plans in mind but I must finish the current projects first. Would it be right for a Panda to be 9" wider and 3' 6" shorter.? Or would that look silly.... Hmmmm:)

O'er; I was just reviewing some old photo's and I noticed something

Go out and look at your own Panda now..... It's all right, I will wait for you to get back......

Ho hum......

Yes your windscreen washer jet and wiper spindle are in the opposite places to mine aren't they..!

Mine is still left hand drive bug*er, Bug*er, Bug*er.
That means dash out and heater out again; and I bet I have to make new mounts.

Does it matter? Most cars have a wiper parked in front of the driver - just reverse the wiper on the spindle & see if it clears the screen ok. Alright I know it can be fixed but.....

You'd be amazed how effective the passenger wiper can be at wiping the driver's side. A tip I picked up from a Rover mechanic who was always waiting for parts on sheared 800 wiper mechanisms. Works on Tipo's when you break the wiper on Christmas Eve by not defrosting the screen

i dont think you will have to take the dash out.. you can do it all from under the scuttle panel. where does the motor sit on yours? behind the spare wheel or behind the battery? (not sure with LHD pandas)

the washer jet is the same sized hole as the wiper spindle's hole.

can you get a picture up of where the wiper motor is sitting now? and how long it is?

if the LHD wiper motor sits behind the spare wheel RHD wiper motor should bolt in with no issues and line up with the hole that the washer jet is in (and fit through it with no issues) if the wiper motor does sit behind the wheel, it should be a very easy swap. no heater matrix box out or anything....

ill have a look through your old pictures and see if i can find one of the wiper motor in situ.

Edit, Ahh it looks like does.. all you need is a RHD wiper motor.. it should bolt right in and because it is longer it should reach over to the other hole and use that one.
